I'm not really to thrilled with any of these characters and we will not get a real debate forum to see them lay out their plans for the future. Too bad we don't have a media which will lay aside a half hour or more for a televised debate among the candidates so we can choose for ourselves rather than accepting what they publish.

Yes, I have a lead dog at this time; however, that is subject to change as I begin evaluation that is more serious of the candidates. I donít fall on the floor laughing the other night when the T.V. commercial came on with Rick Mullaney claiming to be a conservative; I thought it was a joke, LMAO, Rick Mullaney a conservative.

Since when has Rick Mullaney supported less Government, lower taxes, less spending, Responsible City Budgets, and Pensions Plans? Kind of makes me laugh again, Rick Mullaney a conservative, what a freaking Joke!!!!

I only know some of these names. Watching the in fighting with Mullaney and Moran it somewhat hilarious.

Is not Moran the same as wife of Judge Moran? Is this not the same who had the domestic violence issue last year. Either she was not speaking the truth when she originally talked to the police or when she later denied being struck by her husband. I have issues with her over this and the fact that she seems to have the support of the leadership of the Republican party. She is definitely not on my list.

Here is an article about the domestic case for reminders

The first rule in voting at the local level: scratch off all Lawyers.

If all lawyers are on the ballot, begin filing paper work to reduce personal property tax, enroll in a anger mamagement class and vote for a silly write-in candidate.

Westside Conservative - your memory is wrong. Audrey Moran, the republican candidate for Mayor has never been involved in any domestic dispute or been struck by her husband. She has 4 wonderful children and your irresponsible post about her becomes a terrible rumor that the family must now correct. Please try to be more careful and honest in trying to discredit a candidate.

I linked the article which includes Judge Moran and never names his wife as she was the alleged victim of domestic violence. I did a little more research and it appears you were right and I was absolutely wrong. She is apparently married to another attorney Moran. Didn't realize we had two of them.

I apologize for that error.

All that being said, the fact she is the apparent chosen one of the local republican party still gives me concern. I do not like the leadership of either party and am instantly worried about any candidate they endorse.

Donald Moran is the alcoholic wife abusing chief judge. His brother John Moran, also a judge, is married to Audrey.

They lie because we allow them to lie. They lie because we get so caught up in defending "our" side that we refuse to hold them responsible when they are caught red handed lying. Both sides will defend their candidate all the way to the gallows not because they are right but because they want to prove the other side wrong.

Now as far as, "my buddy slick rick," he was the candidate we were given. Much like Obama too little was known (and published) of his background until too late. Many people just voted R because they were angry with the candidates with D next to their name. I believe Rick Scott was unrealistic in what he was promising but Alex Sink failed to get a good message across. I really thought she might pull it out but even she said she couldn't overcome the wave of ill will towards democrats.

Now as far as a mayor I want a candidate who will be specific in what they will cut. I want no more give aways to big companies or buddies. I want someone who will stop crazy spending like 20 million on a fountain nobody visits.

These guys lie because we re-elect them. We have the power to remove liars from office on 2,4, and 6 year intervals based on the office. If liars exist up there its because we voters allow them to.

I'm voting for the Candidate that will repeal those fees that Mayor Peyton passed. I suggest all the candidates distance themselve from the incumbent Mayor. I believe the people are look for someone different like we did for Governor. We need someone for the people and someone to challenge the Obama Administration to get Jacksonville and the State of Florida rolling or YOU will be gone next election. The American people are tired of the Career Politicians. We need someone for US.

After I read the Folio article about Rick Mullaney and his $157,000 annual city pension that he apparently jammed through the system with himself in mind ...would not vote for him.
I've have never seen a list of candidates like this...never heard of most.

peyton, rutherford, cuba nelson and 3/4 of the city council has gotten this city so screwed up no decent candidate wants to tarnish their reputation attempting to straighten it out.

Jacksonville's government, from the lowest employee to the mayor's office, has a death grip on the city. It is strangling the life out of 75% of the residents.

Some of yall on this comment string are absolutely out to lunch. Sometimes, I think we can all use a deep breath and a step back from the ole computer box every now and then.

There are 3 "front-runners" in this race. 2 are career bureaucrats, Hogan and Mullaney. Moran is the only candidate with experience in business, politics, and non-profits. She's the only candidate with a really impressive resume.

Hogan's resume is pathetic (zoology for real?) and Mullaney's is tarnished by insider pension grabbing.

(Wrong) character/family claims about the Morans are just kind of fucked up.(a) It's the wrong person, idiot.(b) Why would you punish a victim?

Where I come from, you pick the best person for the job, man or woman. Choosing some doofus (Hogan) or calculating rip-off artist (Mullaney) will set this city back 40 years.

Let's get it right this time, folks. Vote for Moran.

I will agree that at this point it appears to be a three horse race with Hogan, Mullaney and Moran. I will have to admit I have not really started doing my do diligence in researching all the candidates as of yet so much could change before the election.

For me Mullaney is a no go canít vote for him and want vote for him as he in my opinion is a liar. Claiming to be a ďconservativeĒ with his record is a freak-in joke, so Mullaney will not get my vote. Now Moran and Hogan are intriguing based on what I now, both have extensive back grounds in the Private Sector and have served in government (not sure that is a good thing). I for one rarely take into account in Non-Profit Sector Experience since how those organizations are ran and funded vary greatly.

I hope that threads like this one will help provide insight on all the candidates so that the best available candidate is elected mayor and the same goes for city council.

Yeah right....moran has been in cahoots with the city for years conspiring to get more and more tax payer dollars for a charity that should exist on donations only....not tax payer money.

moran is a con and will cost taxpayers more money for things government should not be involved in.

moran is another peyton and will cause the budget and property tax to continue to go up.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- Al Gore will be coming to Jacksonville to campaign with mayoral candidate, Alvin Brown.

Guess that takes care of any research needed for Mr. Brown, no way I can vote for him.

I would never vote for someone to be mayor who was a charcter witness for a Jacksonville citizen found guilty of possesing child porn in a federal court!!! Mike Hogan went to court on behalf of Richard Sweat who was found guilty and said he was innocent!!! Yet Mr. Hogan did not attend the trail to hear any of the evidence and went against a jury of 12 Jacksonville citzen verdict who heard the evidence and found him guilty. All of Mr. Sweat appeals have been denied Yet Mr. Hogan was mad he was convicted and use his name and position to try and get him a light sentence.Mr. Hogan you should at least attended court and heared the evidence!!
