ANOTHER Westside Shooting

Police are looking for a suspect that shot a 25-year-old woman on the Westside last night.

Police arrived at the intersection of Catoma Rd. and Sloan Ln. to find Tanisha Joyce on the ground. Investigators say she was shot in the stomach.

Joyce is now in fair condition at Shands Jacksonville. If you know anything that can help police, call Crimestoppers at (866) 845-TIPS.

The Sheriff's office and/or the Florida Department of Law Enforcement has shifted their concern elsewhere, away from homicide and violent crime.

Until such a time where investigators learn that violent crime is priority against any other crime, only then will the violent crime go down

Is it just me, or are most of these murders drug related, with quite a few dropped charges thrown in there? Geez...If we didn't know better, we could think there was a vigilante running around, a Charles Bronson!

It's amazing to see the number of dropped cases. It's sickening and to hear Shorstein talk, he's doing a good job. He is a bigger part of the problem than the little thugs out shooting one another.

now people are starting to get it. It always kills me about how he brags about sending more people to prison then anyone else. Of course, its because he has helped foster the culture of crime here and create these lifelong criminals that are making Jacksonville a miserable place to be.

The police can't prevent crime. All they can do is catch who ever did it. As long as "no snitch" is the policy then it is even harder to even do this.
The woman is alive, if she knows her shooter maybe she will snitch.

He certainly isn't helping them any, but dropping the cases, if they are turning up dead.

The police don't prosecute crimes. That is the job of the State Attorney. All the police can do is present their findings to the SAO so that they can refuse an arrest warrant. If the violent crimes are getting dropped that is the State Attorney's fault. You are typical of a person who thinks they have the answers but doesn't understand the problem.
