I also served 14 years in the army, and JSO does more weapons training than the military does. JSO's standards are higher, even though the military would be more likly to need to fire their weapons.

I think most police officers would welcome dash cams and microphone devices. It would eliminate 95% of the frivolous lawsuits, bogus settlements, complaints of excessive force and rudeness against the officers.
I have problems with this but only on the technology side. New radios and equipment required, means money needed for something else whould be deverted to pay for this equipment. Procedures would have to be maped out for collecting data, ect. I understand British police are experimenting with it now, as well as other departments around the company. NY wants to put video cameras on guns, etc.
I repeat I am not against them just thinking of what all would be needed to properly impliment them. It all comes down to money in the end.

I agree with you on the cost. My point was that most officers don't have a problem with video and audio monitoring, and I don't think it would expose this "rampant corruption" that some writers insist exists. On the contrary, it would help reduce excessive force complaints and provide video evidence to support arrests and make a better case for conviction in many cases.
