not a big deal, the motorcycle was just making a u-turn when it ran over the patrol car.

It was a very big deal. The motorcycle was traveling in the west lane when the police car
came out of seventh crossing third. The police car ran out in front of the motorcycle rider who was traveling in the inside land close to the median. The motorcyclist had just turned onto
3rd street from 15th street south and was going to
participate in a motorcycle memorial ride for
Karate Instructor Larry Porter, 8th degree blackbelt, who died in November 2008. The
ride was to begin at 10 30 and he was on his way to meet the other riders for the motorcycle memorial ride.
He saw the police car pull across third from seventh. The police car crossed third heading
from seventh to either cross third completely or either turn left heading south on third. The motorcycle tried to stop when he saw the police car pulling out from seventh crossing third.
He skidded a long way, as you can see from the skid marks in the road on third street at seventh and he laid his motorcycle down sliding on his left side. The motorcycle rider is currently in Shands. He underwent surgery Saturday night for a complex fracture to his upper femur near his left
hip joint,he had to have a rod put in it and will not be able to put weight on it for at least 8 weeks. He was also operated on and a plate was put in his left wrist. He is completely beat up from head to toe and it is a miracle he is alive .
This was clearly police error. The second one this month by Jacksonvlle Beach Police, they recently ran over a sunbather on the beach between 7th and 15th avenue south this month also.
South Jax Beach. This wasnt the sunbathers fault
nor was this motorcycle accident the motorcycle riders fault. Clearly the police car did not see
the motorcycle when he pulled out. The motorcycle rider was not speeding, there was too much traffic on third for one thing.
The motorcycle rider will be looking at a very long time and will never recover fully from these injuries.
Again you can tell from the pictures, and I went by right after it happened, and saw it for myself,
that he laid the bike down and skidded about 20 feet on his left side with the bike on top of him
to try to avoid hitting the police car who had pulled out and was crossing third from seventh.
The police car was sitting straight across the road no turns at all, straight across the road
and the motorcycle hit the driver side door
full throttle . The police car damange was
all directly into the police car driver side door.
Direct impact into the door, straight on.

It's no big deal when a cop isn't hurt. Ask rutherford.

I just happend to be crossing the street when the accident occurred. I was returning from surfing and I was in the southbound lane when I heard the screeching tires. I turned around in time to see the motorcyclist go over his handlebars and then he and the bike hit the cruiser at the same time. Then he came down in an awkward position on his bike with his feet over his head. I was so scared he broke his neck. The cop was definitely at fault- I saw the whole thing happen and he was in the middle of the road!
