Why was a 15 year old driving 6 young children and allowed to be in charge of them in a car every day after school? I feel terrible for the family and my prayers are with them now in their darkest hour but i feel this question must be answered.

I agree with you.A 15 year old girl shouldn't be driving 6 young kids to and from school anyways.I feel bad for the whole family. The kids'mother father died of a massiave heart attack after hearing the news of what happened.

As much as I agree with both of you that she was driving illegally, this accident wasn't her fault - she stopped. My heart and sincerest of prayers go out to the family. May God give them peace during this horrendous time.

I KNOW IT WASN'T HER FAULT. I WAS NOT LAYING BLAME ON HER OR HER FAMILY. IT WAS A VERY TRAGIC ACCIDENT AND MY HOPE IS THAT HER PARENTS WILL NOT BLAME THEMSELVES. GOD CALLED THESE ANGELS HOME AND NO ONE COULD HAVE PREVENTED THAT.

Just to let you know she was in there because she was a caring responsible person. She was trying to get everyone ready for church. Pls stop pointing fingers. Even if there had been an adult in the car that would have only changed the number of people killed, the accident would have still happened. There are still family members greiving for this loss. Pls do not make it any harder on us than it has to be.

Responsible or not, a 15 yr old only has a learners permit. Not a full license. The truck driver must be hurting now too.

A valid question, true. But if an adult were driving, would the truck missed the car? I think the investigation has only begun. Time to blame will come.

Good, I hope he is hurting, because he will never know the pain that we are feeling.

This is a shocking and tragic accident and I am deeply distressed over these needless deaths and injuries. There is however something that needds investigating - CRETE CARRIERS! I hope thte NTSB investigates their accident record accross the country. As one of thte 20 largest trucking companies they have an appalling accident rate where thte drivers "did not see" the otther vehicles!

I'd sure like to know where that person gets its information from. Crete has one of the best records in the country. The only way I know that is from working with the Federal DOT. Sure they're not a large company, but like every company everywhere they have bad drivers. I think the trucking industry as a whole needs to be revamped. From hours of service to speed limits. Why not have SPEED limiters on all trucks everywhere? Also electronic logging/data collection methods. And as far as the driver of the van; she had a license? Not according to the Jacksonville news reports. If she wasn't driving, maybe they'd be walking home. It was only less than 2mi.{If that person wants a list of the top 20 worst safety records in trucking, I can probably get it) Believe me, Crete wasn't on the list. We should be looking into the operator of the truck. Doesn't that person have the ultimate responsibility? Everything is in the drivers hands when the drive. Right?

This is a horror beyond the comprehension of human understanding! I feel for this family and cry in my soul at the pain they are experiencing. We all need to give this family some space to grieve and pray that they find solace in their faith. I believe there is a Higher Power working in all our lives and for whatever reason, these children were taken as young Angels to Heaven. God needed them more than we did.

Crete is an umbrella company that has many carriers operating under its flag, and as a federal dot officer you should know that. When the FHWSA does their inspection you can bet they will find logbooks that don't match qualcom data. You should know speed limiters would have had no impact on this crash. And if the girl had not been driving and not been sitting behind the bus, the only difference would have been a truck into the back of a school bus with nine kids vice a car with 7. Do you think before you post??!? The girl was stopped behind a bus with flashing lights, what more can be said, this guy should have never been on the road. And judging from his past record it doesn't say much for Crete and their hiring practices that he was their driver and company representative.

I AGREE AMEN. THIS NEW DRUG CALLED ICE IS ALL OVER THE ROADS COMMONLY USED IN SEMI OPERATORS TO STAY UP FOR DAYS AND KEEPING ON TRUCKIN, THEY SHOUD HAVE TO TAKE A DRUG SCREENING ON EVERY TRIP.

I'm a FL.DOT officer, I helped inspect the Crete truck & trailer. I was there at the scene. Our Dept. does a great job of getting unsafe trucks off the road. I have seen too many of these type of crashes. It is hurtful to all.

Crete is a dry freight company & then there are 2 other subdivisions. Refer & Flatbeds. The only truckload carrier that has log books matching Qualcom data is probably Werner Enterprises. Of course then it's computer logging. They use electronic logging. It's not 100% accurate. Logs are the drivers' responsibility. Was his logs updated? I wasn't there. As far as his background, I don't know what Crete hauls as far as background checks. How long has he been employed with Crete? Did he get those tickets with Crete? We all can't be perfect! I was just saying that the trucking industry needs to be revamped. Don't be so quick to judge the carrier. It's amazing that people are so quick to point the finger to the big guy.(I guess they look at the big money before answers.) Any driver of whatever has the ultimate control of their actions. I think the driver (of the truck) has alot of questions to answer. Has a report been released yet?

Did this truck appear unsafe? or can you say? I understand if you can't.
