This article is full of grammatical errors. Not sure if the person typing was very tired or someone didn't proof read.

I disagree with your statement on killing them to save tax payers monies. These are individuals who make the wrong choice when they are pulled over by police officers; so to just kill someone because of a bad decision is wrong. Sometimes a officer might have to use excessive force, but to just kill someone because they have the power to is wrong. My question to you hookmans is, if this was your sister, brother, mom or dad, would you want that officer to kill them to save taxpayers money? I doubt very seriously you would, because I believe you would be the first in line to sue that officer and the city if they treated your family member that way; so think more next time before you shoot your mouth off about wanting someone to die because of a bad decision.

I agree with D_Smith - crimes of passion are more common than most people think, and the officers on the street are left to analyze and react to different situations at lightning speed, with the public's safety as well as their own being the first priority. It is unfortunate that this young man reacted the way he did in anger and forced the officers to do what their training has taught them to do. At least, in this case, the man still has his life. However, I don't have this same view of child molesters and people who abuse old folks. I suppose I would be flamed for posting what I think should be done with them.

p.s.- I also posted a comment about the grammatical errors in alot of the stories I have read on this website in another forum. The competition's site is no better. I laughed out loud after the suspect's name was published and in the next paragraph, read that police had not identified the person. WOW! We, as the public, should be able to grade these stories. There's an idea - have the editors put a grade box at the bottom of each story!

Why the "kill shot" when you can disable the guy coming at you with knives by simply hitting him in the knee? Just another example of the horrible police that we need to deal with at the beach. Overzealous cops.

Yeah Right - This schmuck is coming at you with 2 knives and you have time to think about using your stun gun. They did the right thing. Better a bullet in that scumbag than one of the police officers getting injured or killed. We also get the whiners here in Raleigh when this type of thing happens. It's sickening!

To those that are quick to you that are critical of the officer's actions: Have you been a cop that is faced with these decisions everyday? I don't think we get to be too judgemental in the Monday morning quaterback chair and not walked in those same shoes. I am always wondering why people think what if the suspect was your family member, well what if the cop was your family member. How would you feel about their saftey that they are willing to put on the line for all of us every day? Unless you are willing to risk your saftey for the rest of us to sleep safe at night in this city then you can't judge the ones that do.

I'm glad the officer shot this guy. If you're dumb enought to pull a knife on someone with a gun, then you should expect to be shot. DUH! These officers that are involved in shootings, are NOT shooting just for fun, they are shooting people who have put themself in that position. These are not innocent little babies they are shooting - they are stupid people who have no respect for authority.
