SCOTTSBORO, Ala.(AP)- Authorities say a businessman died while riding his bicycle after a driver reaching for her cell phone struck him as he rode along a Scottsboro road.

Police say 49-year-old Carlos Serrano died at the scene of the crash after he was hit by 26-year-old Kimberly Kelsey Drawbaugh. According to the police report, Drawbaugh said she didn't see Serrano because she was reaching into her purse for her cell phone.

And a few idiots are worried about someone smoking a cigarette, get real folk, work on the phone abusers.

The current piedmont city government is so pathetic that nothing they do or don't do would surprise me. Did you people know that the only reason Young ran for Mayor was a bet he had with Fagen? And Fagen has already made the statement that he wont even have to campaign next time. He's a sure thing. That's the kind of ego that's gotten us into the mess we're in now. Mary Bramblet might be the only member of that counsel who deserves to be re-elected. There has got to be at least one honest man or woman who has piedmont's best interest at heart who's willing to run.

We need more policemen on duty. Another part of the mayor's cutbacks is going to get people hurt.

In my day, people grew their own tobacco and made their on cigars. Didn't need others telling them what to do, those that did not wish to be around those with pipe, cigars etc. were welcome to go elsewhere. Seems times have changed for the worse.
