Jacksonville adds one cent in sales tax
The Jacksonville City Council approved a penny sales tax Monday night that will be used to help fund a new public safety complex as well as the city's school system.

Government should operate like a household. If you can't afford it, don't get it or do without something else. Instead Jacksonville City Council either uses restricted accounts and reserve funds to "balance the budget". Then, if they want to do something new a tax is passed - bypassing the voters approval. An outright shame!
