Death of Swifton man officially ruled suicide

On Thursday, May 4, at approximately 5:49 p.m., the Jackson County Sheriff's Department received a call in reference to a subject that was found hanged.

Hmmmmm....That's a tough one. It very well could've been sucide, but then again, Swifton is getting as bad as Newport....could've just as well been foul play.

Can anyone tell me more of the story about Shelby Thompson ? I've been trying to find info on this subject for years and haven't been able to find out anything, not even an obit. He was married to my mothers cousin for years before the marriage that he was murdered in. I've never heard the whole story.

Probably can but I'm looking for the whole story I was really young when he was part of my family didn't really know him we lived in MO at the time and I never heard any rumors of nasty stuff going on.

You can ask 10 people the whole story and will get 10 different stories. My ex in-laws swore that it was absolutely horrible what happened to him. I personally knew the shooter and a lot of the key witnesses. The point of the matter is that she went to prison and served her time. I honestly hope that Cricket is doing well. She was a wonderful person.

I just can't figure out why I can't find any newspaper articles or anything about what happened. I know what I was told but it was just minimal information. This has bothered me for years. I was at my aunts house the day they called to tell her he had been found. All I know was that he went missing and was found dead and the step daughter was charged with murder. Maybe its just morbid curiosity but he was a member of my family for quite a few years and I would really like to know what happened to him.

Cricket shot Shelby with a rifle so he went fast. He did not suffer anything like the girls in that family did for years. She should have shot her mother while she was at it for letting the abuse happen.

I don't know if she should have shot her mother also, she was a victim as well. But when push came to shove, Cricket did what she felt had to be done so the abuse would not continue as he threatened it would.

I'm sorry to dredge up bad feelings. All I intended to do was get some background concerning my family history. Not blaming or condemning anyone, just wanted to know what happened or if anyone could tell me where I might find some info, such as newspaper articles or an obit.
