Lets talk about trusting in science.

Believers worship ignorance! How? Well, theists like to compartmentalize. Many of them know science quite well but don’t apply scientific thought to their religion. If you are debating a believer, don’t rattle off one scientific study after another to combat their arguments from the Discovery Institute of from Answers in Genesis. Just remind them of two things…

1) CONSENSUS (Peer Review)– The folks from the Discovery Institute of from Answers in Genesis (the only two “science” arms of creationism) have NEVER had a single paper peer reviewed or published in a respectable journal. Ask the believer who quotes them,“Why? Why do they go to every day people on the street with their ‘research’ instead of other scientists?” The answer is simple. Their science sucks. They know the layman will miss their mistakes and maybe believe it enough to help them push it into science classrooms. Real scientists don’t do this. They resort to unbiased peer reviewed (ALWAYS funded by groups outside of their own funding source… to remove bias). Peer review leads to better answers and the removal of errors based on bad science and/or bias.“Creation-Science “ can’t pass that test.

2) TRUST – Every time you get in a car, you trust science… and the engineers that made it. When you eat food you didn’t grow, you trust science… and the FDA inspectors that made sure it was safe. When you dial a phone number, you trust science… and the computer science professionals that made your phone and the satellite in space your signal is bouncing off of. Yet, believers are fine with stories of Jews rising from the dead, walking on water, the sun standing still, seas separating, water turning into wine, and people turning into pillars of salt… all things that science has a problem with. Think they don’t? Ask any biologist, physicist, cosmologist, or chemist that’s worth anything and they’ll laugh at the bible and it’s nonsense stories.

If your god is real, then you should be able to use science to prove it. If your god creative an inquisitive brain that requires proof for belief, then why can’t he produce it? If you don’t’ want these answers, then you are ok with god existing in the ever-shrinking box that is human ignorance. As science destroys ignorance, that home for god gets smaller and smaller… and will eventually disappear. You trust science in every other aspect of your life – so STOP worshipping ignorance.

And there you go again with your questions. If I give you the answer will you check it out, or will you just remain in your cave complaining that I don't know what I'm talking about?
Perhaps you will condescend to take a quick peek at wikipedia or is that too left wing/atheist/communist/biased some other way?

what is odd about him mentioning jesus who you guys say did not exist at all. Auntie you cant have it both ways. Either he did write or he did not write it.
maybe josephus did not consider it important to cover it but the fact remains he mentions the man by name.
He mentions talk of a new religion with a prophet called Jesus - end of evidence. No other Romans, Jews, Greeks at the time mention it. End of story. It is like saying there is a rumor that a new cult is forming in Utah lead by Brigham Young. Is that evidence that Mormon is the one true religion? Is that all you need?
I do not claim that Jesus never existed (I doubt it) but I do claim that he doesn't exist.

He also mentions other events that are mentioned in the Bible AND he mentions them as being fact. I find it interesting that Josephus, who incidentally became a roman citizen, confirmed many things in the Bible.

BUT, i guess none of that matters because he didn't use science to prove it. WTF??

He actually goes in to a tad more detail than your one sentence. In addition he confirms Herod's execution of John the Baptist at the behest of his step-daughter.

As a devout atheist, I believe that more than likely the characters of the new testament exsisted, in some way shape or form. But since no one decided to actually write anything down about them until decades after their deaths, alot is up for speculation.

I believe they was men like me, not son of god. They were working off of the current Jewish bible of their time.

Paul, formally Saul, traveled his whole life teaching the Jewish bible. Which is how the melting pot commenced.

I just think they were as brainwashed as people are today.

Just as a man of science, its ignorant on my part to say that none of the characters of the bible exsisted, so I must leave room for that.

I was a Christian for most of my life, so I'm very well versed on the bible.

It just came to a point to where my eyes could no longer ignore the facts of reality.

Now, there was about this time Jesus, a wise man, if it be lawful to call him a man, for he was a doer of wonderful worksa teacher of such men as receive the truth with pleasure. He drew over to him both many of the Jews, and many of the Gentiles. He was [the] Christ; and when Pilate, at the suggestion of the principal men amongst us, had condemned him to the cross, those that loved him at the first did not forsake him, for he appeared to them alive again the third day, as the divine prophets had foretold these and ten thousand other wonderful things concerning him; and the tribe of Christians, so named from him, are not extinct at this day.

Astronomers used the same math that took us to the moon to figure this out. The same math that allows us to predict the motions of a space craft orbiting Saturn years in advance, and that planet is over a billion miles away from us.

It's not like their using some made up arithmetic.

Here's a little more (see link) "The TF contains some obvious Christian glosses that no Jew would have written; such as "he was the Christ" and "he appeared to them alive again the third day."

This scholarly impartial article delves into the truth and comes up with the conclusion that Josephus' writings were doctored by Christians - this is why I claim no more than one sentence by Josephus mentions Jesus and that is just a hearsay story he heard. No evidence there I'm afraid. Here is my source: http://bede.org.uk/Josephus.htm

I think you are mistaking astrology for astronomy. Are you discounting the calculations of every scientist on the planet? You must be extremely smart to call astrophysicists fiction. How much have you studied the field to be able to rule it out as fiction? Even Iran now has the ability to put a rocket into space - do you have that ability or is it just more fiction? Obviously Muslims are smarter than Tennessee Christians.

No offense, but wasn't that why this blog was started. The idiot "Wokng for the Lord" started in the name of religion. Not religion exactly, but his narrow minded religion. That's all he was doing by stating that, was "spreading" his religion. It's a two way street and you must accept that much

I do accept that the thread was started because somebody somewhere wants everybody else to think the same.

Let me put this more politely than I would like to.
In the words of The Lord, everybody who does that should "Go forth and multiply", and do it to themselves.

So....he wrote it but he didn't because someone said he didn't?

I get it, kind of like there is a God but there's not because some people don't believe in him.

If you look at research in totality....written word, archeological, oral traditions, etc, there is evidence for the truth of the Bible. Can you pick apart the research you don't like? Sure. Like it or not the answer lies within, faith.
