You don't "send" them to Madison. They must be "selected" to attend Madison. Somehow, I think you already knew that.

Now you can resume your shit talking........

Before you do, realize this. If your child ever has an issue they will not listen to it. Me and a few hundred others all signed a petition to get a teacher fired who obviously had no business teaching anything less than 1st grade math. They ignored this and several parents attempts to complain about this teacher and as a result a few kids, including myself, were asked to leave madison after having passed his gateway tests twice, but failing the class twice. He was eventually asked to take his own Gateway test and failed. He now substitute teaches and works at Taco Bell. His name is Mr.Smith. Don't send them there.

Thanks for that. But other than Madison, what is a public school I can send her to that would prepare her for college?

Could not recommend Madison unless the only life you want your child to have is teaching themselves and homework seven days a week for at least five to six hours a day. My daughter decided to transfer there last year. She has always been a straight A student and it was more than I could stand to see her go through. Most of the teachers there were not helpful to her at all and it put so much stress on her she was constantly in tears. It was very difficult getting her transferred out of there once she decided it was not for her. There were a lot of things that they failed to tell us when she got the last minute call that a slot had opened up for her. It may be a good option for some but we did not find that it was worth the stress for us.

I attend Madison, I rarely sit down to do homework, and all my teachers genuinely want the best for me. No I am not a nerd, nor a slacker. Madison is a high school that becomes what you make of it. If you want to be lazy- you fail. If you want a future- you work hard and graduate. And after you are chosen from the lottery you have to maintain a C average to stay. We have a great staff, of corpse except for a few, but what school doesn't?

Truth, what about when you're a straight A student your entire life, and one idiotic teacher that the school hires ruins that? Think before you speak, you're obviously a freshman.

Horrible school, and the above comment is correct. Your child will have homework every night for the next 4 years.

the only thing we know for sure, thanks to the Jackson Sun, is that the majority of Madison kids cited in the big house party raid this weekend were not 18.

Madison is a great school. My son worked hard graduated from there with 12 hrs of college credit and a full ride scholarship. He is smart but not a brain by any stretch. He worked hard, played hard and learned a lot from some very good teachers. Like all places, some teachers were better than others. He wrote a lot and read a lot.

But if your child is not willing to do the work and make some effort neither the student or the parents will be happy. It won't work for every student.

Well I go to Madison and I don't know who this Mr. Smith that was fired is. We have not had a Smith working in the Math department. And Madison has the best scores of most schools in West TN. the average ACT at Madison is a 26. We work hard every day, and if your child is a dumb ass who just complains about having homework, send them to another school where you don't have to work hard. If you are struggling in a class, there are options far beyond just the teacher to help. We have student tutors, most teachers stay after school for tutoring as well, and most every teacher is there to help you, even if it's not in their allotted subject. We have great academics, sports, and fine arts, and your child will benefit immensely from going to our school!

I am an alumni at Madison Academic and I encourage you to send your child there. Your child will get the education that they need to succeed in life. Yes, you have homework frequently, but that will prepare you in the future when in comes to college and further in life. Even if they do have homework it won't take your child along time to do it. You have to put in the effort and you will succeed. After being there you will learn how to schedule out your studying schedule and your free time. Madison has the highest ACT scores which help your student in the long run. I have never heard of a Mr. Smith. He must of not put in the effort and thats not the teachers fault. The teachers can't do everything.

The Mr Smith they are talking about was there around 2004, hello this is 2012. He's been gone for years not sure why anyone would even bring him up when referring to Madison today. The school has wonderful teachers who have your child's best interest in mind. My child graduated from Madison several years ago and was very well prepared for college. Also received scholarships. Very good public school
