Worried mom of teen boy

Jackson, TN

#1 Feb 6, 2011
My 17 yr old son came home last night around midnight and went right to his room. Shortly after I started doing laundry and found 3 bags of white powders and pills in his pocket. One was opened called Mollys plant food. Another called blue magic and the last was white lightning. I've heard that teens can abuse these. Can someone please help and tell me how he got these, what they are, and where he bought them? I hope this works as I am very worried!! Thanks!

Maybe you should step up to the plate and whip his ass. That's what is wrong with kids now lack of ass whippings.

I sense your frustration. I would suggest you contact Reverend Bruce Hussey at Operation Hope in Jackson. Bruce is a good man. He will keep everything confidential & will get the information you need to help your son IF he's into something he shouldn't be into. You can trust Bruce & his wife. They are a couple that have a sincere heart for the youth of our community. Operation Hope operates out of the old USJ building on Hollywood across from Poplar Heights Church. Their number should be in the phone book. If you need further help, contact me on TOPIX & I'll try to point you in a different direction. It's evident you're a good mom & you are looking out for your son. You can trust these people not to push their agenda on you. They have one objective & that's to help the community of Jackson. Contact them. Good luck.

Hey mom, I don't know about the bath salts, but I know about Mollys. It became illegal on January 1st. It used to be sold at MANY gas stations. It is not lethal, unless you take too much, like any other medication. Although it is not MDMA (the chemical in ecstasy) it gives a euphoria almost identical to it. Keep your son away and educate him on this drug!

well there is alot of places to get it.places in jackson, humboldt, & dyersburg. one is across from golds gym on carriagehouse dr. and the thing is they all are owened by the same ppl. and i can understand how you feel. i for one have experienced this stuff and its not safe.you really want to learn about it, google ivory bathsalt. you will learn everything you need to know about it. but with my luck i didnt learn about it till it was almost to late. the stuff is pose to be illegal. and thats a federal law now.and when u look it up, have you son sit down & read about it with you. but anyway, good luck with everything and and just keep your head up.

oh come on, calm down. as long as he's not adicted and doesn't continue to abuse it too much, but rather uses it in moderation, nothing can really go wrong. understand that you -cant- make him stop doing something that he wants. I understand that you're worried. just make sure he understands the short and long term effects of using such drugs, especially cheap, legal, 'drugs' like those. its always best to be informed and educated. above the ignorance.

I realize I didn't really answer your question though.

molly's plant food is supposedly thought to be methylone. im not exactly sure, but it should say so on the ingredients label.

also, use google next time.

molly's plant food can supposedly be bought at gas stations.

it has a ton of caffeine in it. caffeine is addictive, correct? my husband and i tried it, just to see what the hype was about. a line will keep you high for a good 2 hours. the come down is horrible. you feel like you have to have more. there IS NO putting it down until the bag is empty. by that time, you've been up for 2 or 3 days. you're seeing things & people you think are real. everyone is out to get you, including whomever you imagine is standing in your back yard. it made us hear things, we saw cops surrounding the house, then we turned on each other. this is an addictive substance & should not be taken lightly at all. we finally realized we were only halucinating. it wasnt us, its the bath salt. it took us 3 months after our last trip to regain mental stability. in those 3 months, even sober, we still heard stuff & thought we saw things. we were paranoid. it ruins your life & screws with your head. i think cocaine would possibly be safer than that stuff, and i'm totally against legal drugs. take this off the market!

What's the point of buying these "legal" drug substitutes? From what I can tell they cost more than what's on the street and you can probably trust what's on the street at least as much if not more than these.

agreed, the illgeal substances are actually 'safer' than legal substances. Example? Compare alcohol and cigarettes to marijuana and ecstasy.

Legal drug substitutes.

SUBSTITUTES means it is an alternative to an illegal drug. It does NOT mean, same thing as an illegal drug. Legal drugs are almost always more harmful than anything else, regardless if it is 'popular'(such as alcohol) or not (molly's plant food)
