So, don't be late. I don't understand the problem. It's not that I don't feel sorry for someone who legitimately has trouble making ends meet. I just don't understand why others don't understand that JEA has to pay for that power. It's not like they create it. If you are late, it should be cut off. The due date is not a surprise. It is the same each month AND they mail it to you as a reminder. You have a month to pay, so they could cut it off one day past the due date.

Well I'm for one glad that this fine upstanding citizen of bemis and supporter of Obama could get that electricity cut back on so that he/she could get on here and let us other fine topix posters know what's going on. I'm sure the way things are going we all are not only gonna have to pay a little extra so that this moocher can get free health care, but we're all gonna have to contribute a little more each month on our utilities so that they can get free lights. And I'm not a JEA employee so don't even go there Guest. Get your church over there with some canned goods.
what makes u think their from bemis??

Yes, they are cold hearted. Their employees sit in restaurants and coffee shop at least half of day though. They should cut back on their own waste . Be kinder to folks during tough times.

Pay your bill....no one owes you anything.....I get up everyday and go to work...I do without lots of luxuries so I can pay for my basic needs....If there is any money left over, then I shop, go out to eat, go to movies, etc. I don't expect JEA to give me a free ride in cold weather or in hot weather, If the JEA employees go out to eat lunch...big deal. Too many people sit back and expect the government to give them something. This is not rocket science...pay you way!!!

That's horrible you and others just assume this person wants a free ride. You have no way of knowing what hardship has fallen in someone's lap. An illness or an accident or maybe even one of those or any number of other things to a family member as well. Lighten up and don't just assume. You know what happens when you assume.

JEA will cut you off even if you pay the bill or at least try. I paid my bill at the bank about 3 yrs ago when I made my house payment. I recieved the yellow cutoff notice but ignored it. On a Friday my husband and I were out working and came back to the house to get something. The man was here to cut me off. I went ballistic. He told me to call office. I did and explained I had receipt for payment. He stated there had been no payment. I told him I would fax it to him. No good. I had to appear in person with receipt. Not a good idea for that guy! I drove down to JEA with receipt in hand and went straight to his office. He had to keep me from dancing on his desk. The bank forgot to post the money they had had for 3 weeks. JEA guy apologized profusely but it took away fromy working time and made me very angry. I have never had my utilities cut off and I been paying them bills almost 40 yrs.

If I had a cushy air conditioned and heated sit down job like the bank and JEA I think I could push the button to post to someone's account!!!

So was that JEA's fault the bank didn't send them the money? Sounds like you need to gripe at the bank, not JEA.

If you can't pay the bill, open the windows. Air conditioning is not a necessity of life.

I know from experience they will shut off your utility if you are just one month late. I even asked them to wait 48 hours till I could get my paycheck and they would not. Turned them off Wednesday morning and I had them turned back on Friday morning. The only amount owed was that particular month. They don't seem to be very concerned and I know every person in Jackson doesn't pay their bill in full every month.
If your paycheck (if you really do work) was a month late, you'd be singin a different tune. No reason for JEA to carry deadbeats at the detriment of paying customers

I understand exactly what you are talking about. I was told the same thing about that yellow notice being mailed out. I paid what I had which left at balance of 52.00 they cut my services the next day and I had to pay an extra 50.00 to get them reconnected. They must be really busy cutting off power because I know every person in Jackson can't pay their bill in full every month by JEA's deadline. That JEA employee needs to learn the company policies!
Hey dimwit, call them before they send the "yellow" notice. You knew you didn't have the money, call them and tell them. You just ignored it hoping it would just go away. That's not how it works
