Actually I gave my reasons for U.T. not needing Golden. You were expecting the reader to simply agree with your expert opinion alone.

Yea, because it's as simple as that. too much smoke going on at Miami since he's been the coach there. I figured if you KNEW anything about CFB, it would be implied. But your smart ass comment doesn't go unnoticed. But, yes, I would call it expert (close to the situation) FACT.. If I'm wrong, you can have a field day on me, but I didn't feel I needed to explain anything with Golden other than "hell NO"

Yea, Tennessee has had the most problems with student athletes getting arrested. Get a damn clue:

Didn't he use university funds to hire his mistress? That may not be an NCAA violation, but it's certainly fraudulent. You may think that UT exists only to give you entertainment on Saturdays, but it's a public university, so every dime up there is ours, regardless of the tricky ways they try to say that money belongs to athletic programs. The same is true for Arkansas. Taking state money to hire your mistress is crooked as hell. That's the baggage Petrino carries.

U.T, just like most any public university, does indeed take public money and is answerable to the public to a certain level. However, athletics, just like fine arts, also has monies that come from donations, endowements, estates, boosters, and the like that are not the public's money. No, not every dime up there is "ours".

Like I said, they can disguise it all they want, but the state of Tennessee owns the university and the brand names that the sell.

Thanks for confirming you got the message! In case you missed it, we actually were agreeing on Golden. Not sure why you chose to go combative about it. You went smart ass on me, I replied in kind. See how it works? Keep it civil with me and you can guarantee civil in return. Have you heard any updates from the Knoxville media today?

Todd, if what you say is the case, then why doesn't the State of Tennessee just borrow money from the University of Tennessee Volunteer Athletic Scholarship Fund to pay for state projects?

Sorry, my B!! some jackoffs are trying to hijack these threads. It was just getting to me. I'm sure I misinterpreted it earlier. Not, other then that was who the were "supposedly" were meeting with today. I don't think it will materialize. If I'm wrong, I won't be too happy. I think we should give Charlie Strong another interview. He's a loyal man, but I bet you he stays at Louisville. I don't think Petrino would be as bad as some people think. I think he's learned his lesson. However, I think we still need to attack Fisher and Gary Patterson. Those would be two names to look into more!!

I totally agree on Fisher, Patterson and Strong. Either way U.T. chooses to go, I think we are a saeson if not a season and a half from seeing positive signs of a turnaround in the program. Whoever takes over has got to stop the bleeding of high school talent that is leaving this state. I know we can't field a team strictly from in state talent, but several legitimate blue chippers are leaving the state unimpeded. Saban at Alabama is in our own backyard cherry picking the best talent. U.T. at the very least needs to be putting up a fight to keep these kids in state.

Because state budgets don't work that way. Money gets ear-marked, and that's the only way it can be used. Trust me on this. I have a good, working (as in every day) knowledge of state budgets.

Barrett Jones and Donte Hightower just name a couple all went to Alabama. There's plenty more, trust me. I felt like we knew Dooley was just going to be the middle man to manage are depth back up. Dooley did a decent job of getting the depth chart back up, but bad hires and other events are why Dooley failed. He never really interacted with the boosters and fans all that much. He was a PR dream, as he was very witty in interviews, but never really connected.
I don't believe the media when they say UT is a hard project to rebuild. NOT really, you can build it up fairly quickly. It's still Fricken Tennessee, you know what I mean.

The athletic department at the University of Tennessee operates separately then the college. That's all I can say for that. AD gives university money, not the other way around

Todd, the point of state budgets is exactly the point I was making. I assure you, if all money at U.T. belonged to the public, the greedy politicians in Nashville would have found a way to get their hands on it by now. Just like money being earmarked in state budgets, endowements and gifts to U.T. work the same way. If the giver of a monetary gift earmarks it for atletics, it can't be used in the Science or Engineering Departments. Todd, if we both go to Neyland Stadium , I buy a ticket and you give them your " I am a taxpayer and it is my money" speech, guess which one of us will get to watch the game?

There is no doubt Dooley was a nice enough guy. I just don't think he was the right puzzle piece needed. Now where were Jones and Hightower from? I know the QB at Giles Co. and the RB at Beech both signed with Saban. Saw the Beech kid play last week at Northside. He lived up to the media hype. I predict he will be a productive college athlete but will face a short, if at all pro career. His running style matches that of former players John Riggins and Christian Akoye. Both preferred to run over opponents rather than around them. Both got broken down physically because of it.

Our state politicians aren't very smart, but they're smart enough to not touch the state's beloved institution: UT Football. And to make sure they don't mess with UT football, our state legislators get free season tickets.

All money at UT is state money. Please, just trust me on this. They can call it what they want. They can move it over here and hide it over there, but it still belongs to the state of Tennessee. I keep saying this...!

I played against Jones in high school in Memphis. I believe Hightower was from either fayetteville, or somewhere else in middle Tennessee. Just a couple of many though. We've lost a couple to LSU too. Alex Hurst comes to mind. The kicker Josh Jasper was from Memphis too

The guy would not do this again. We are a country of second chances, can't you see past this one mishap. What he did could be classified as prostitution, but not an NCAA violation. You really need to get a clue you fool.

As for the money that helps pay our coaches, build facilities, fund scholarships, etc, etc, you get the point is separate. Get a clue, or STFU!!!
