Play for Madison North. Their league President doesn't have any children that play...As far as coaches playing their sons that may not be good, Coach yourself then you won't have anything to complain about.

The only problem with league baseball are the adults....coaches, parents and etc. Aren't we here to teach kids how to play baseball, work together as a team, sportsmanship? How can they learn that when the adults don't set a good example? I think each of us need to look at ourselves and change how we act in front of these children.

That's exactly right. Parents and coaches(not all) are too concerned with getting all the best players on their team so they can have an unfair advantage. Been going on for years. The kids are the ones that suffer for it. I am as competitive as they come but I want to win fair and square. But some of these coaches and parents are just ridiculous! Just teach them the game and let them play.

The only problem I see are people who want to sit around and complain about others who volunteer their free time. It is really easy to hide behind a fake name and criticize people! As far as getting the first pick it is done with seniority! So who ever you are get over yourself!

I like leagues having the rule that a son/daughter cannot play for their parent(s). At least give the parent/player an option?

Brent, I have known parents who had rather not coach their own children and made that point known in draft meetings. The league had no problem with it.

You may have known "some" having said that that's the exception not the rule! As for me and children who I make no excuses for raising them to be highly competitive would NEVER coach against them.

That doesn't bother me in the least, Brent, as long as you treat your child as you would any other. Do not expect more or less from them; do not attempt to make them the team's star. Recognize their short-comings when they cannot catch, hit, or throw. Get my drift, Brent?Do not place them on the AllStar team as your one selection when your team finishes in last place, perhaps?

Looking forward to little league central this year, kids played in another district before now. Hope to avoid all the bickering, but I imagine it is there just like everywhere else. First year I have not coached. As a coach and my boy playing for me, I showed him no favoritism except for being harder on him. Because I knew that I didn't have to hear a parent jumping my case because I got on to their perfect child. So does that teach a coaches boy to step up a little more? Yes it does. And I am out there to win or lose as long as I feel the "capability of my players were at 110%" they left nothing out. I have lost and been more proud than some games we won. It is about that kid making progress from day 1 of the season to the end. I like to see that they left this year better than they started. Being it the sport or just personality, behavior or teamwork. Not all of our kids are baseball players, but while they are playing they need to take something away from it that they can use in life for years to come. That should be taught to the coaches. A lot of people remember their coaches from little league when they become grown men. They effect some part of our life good or bad. Just hope everyone can hide the adult bickering from the kids. And let them be kids. Peace!

I am interested in coaching a Little League team. I coached in LL minors for 2 years, LL majors for 3 years, Dixie Youth for 2 years. My son played for me all of those years but he is married and living in Nashville now. I really miss coaching and teaching. I have no biases toward any team or player. I grew up at Lions Field and was heart broken when Little League folded in the early 2000's. I remember when there were only 8 teams in Little League and only the best of the best made a team. The rest of us played Southern or Texas league. I would gladly assist someone in coaching or take a team of my own. I can be reached at this site using the name, "Fiji Vol".
Thanks.

Do you have a number for Coach Rhea? I am very interested in coaching. Thanks. This is a great age for developing young players.

What I cant believe is you pay a fee and still have to buy the uniforms. I don't like that the money is going in Great Americas pocket and not at all the boys so rediculous

Little league is run the same in every town....jacked up. But, the options r either suck it up & deal with it, play travel ball, or stop playing completely. If it hasn't changed in this many years, it ain't abt 2 change

What ages are they playing? How is the talent looking? I hope Dixie Youth folds all over West Tennessee.
