I'd get rid of the TV, video games, sugar, and caffeine first.

I thought Zinkus was a psychologist. They don't have prescribing privileges.

he is a psychologist. The child has to be diagnosed first. I think if they had the child diagnosed then they would have known which doctor to take them to. Some people still try and self diagnose. You can take child to Dr. Maley first. He is a good one.

You need to be diagnosed first. Some really do have it some don't. My child does. We did all the spanking, stripped his room down everything. After the medicine we knew we did the right thing when grades went up drastically. Go see your family Dr don't just automatically assume the child needs medication.

I completely agree. ADD and ADHD is very real. I have one child who clearly has ADD and two children who clearly do NOT. However, I think it is often misdiagnosed and/or used as an excuse. Yes, take your child to your family doctor or pediatrician. He or she will know the right thing to do after you talk with them about what's going on.

And most docs prescribing/diagnosing is more than likely not connected in some way with the company making those meds your child will be taking. He makes money by prescribing.

I fully agree that most kids are not diagnosed properly. My child is not allowed to play video games, is only allowed 30 min of TV time a day, eats healthy and has never had a drop of caffeine. She still has horrible problems with her mind wandering when she does her homework and at school. She's not hyperactive but she definitely responds well to ADD medication for concentration. Some kids really do have a problem, even after making sure they don't get their minds cluttered with a lot of junk.
