I have been reading comments on facebook and such about the first baby of 2013. The parents are very young. I understand people are stating how mature and responsible they are for their age. In my opinion they may be mature for their age but not very responsible. It was reported the mother stated they were shocked to be pregnant because they were so young. Uh yea if you have intercourse you could get pregnant. Babies are indeed a blessing. I don't know the parents, families or financial situation of this couple but I hope they are financially prepared to raise this child. If I wanted to pay for another child, I would have another one myself. My point is no matter what your age you should be financially able to provide for a child before you bring one into this world. I have no doubt this beautiful child will have plenty of love and I wish the family good blessings.

OK.. What a dumb topic. I had my son when I was 19. I'm a nurse, my husband is an engineer, and we have another child now. Don't be judging by age. Both our kids are well taken care of and we can provide plenty for them. You don't even know this couple.

Yes, because everyone that has children at 19, things magically turn out alright for them..... they don't continue to be a drain on our federal resources and tax dollars...

Uh if you're a nurse it's unfortunate you can't read. I said I didn't know the couple I was just stating my opinion. People 30 yrs old are having children they can't support. As I stated my point is if you have children then be prepared to support them. I don't know their financial situation AS I STATED. I wish them the best. They are blessed with a beautiful baby girl. Happy New Year to all.

Why did you base your comment around that couple in particular? Why not just make your point generically without pinning a face to it.

What realization? That half of the children born now are to young unmarried unemployed parents? Realize people so selfish stupid things everyday because they can? Babies having babies, irresponsible people having babies come on everybody have a baby! The hard working people of this country will support us. Stupid :-0

IT'S CALLED A RUBBER????? I'm a guy and hate using them, but it beats the hell out of me paying for your child's food stamps that just end up getting used for "other" acitivites anyways. So yes, this is a relevant subject, as every baby that's conceived by "accident" is a target for dead beat parents. Sure, it's not the case in every situation, but the majority of the time, YES, it is true. That's great you had a kid at 19, but most people that have mistakes, pass them off to relatives or suck the government dry. Ever heard of schools providing breakfast and dinner to kids. That's a direct result of people being too cheap to buy a $.75 condom. Quite frankly, you can't be upset at people not wanting to pay for others' errors.

I dont think she was upset i think she was stating that there is nothing u can do about it. I have heard many ppl say that those that can't afford kids etc should be "fixed"... that is not an option. It is everyones right as an american to have as many kids as they want. No one likes their money going to pay for food stamps but u don't have a choice. You might need food stamps one day if u loose ur job and u won't be complaining then

There are a lot of babies having babies. If you are single and accidentally get pregnant then you really shouldn't turn right around and get pregnant again. I'm talking about those that are using the government assistance. I know several young girls that this just happened to. Some of the working people have medical insurance that they pay for out of their paycheck but can't afford to go to the doctor because of high copays on the visit or medicine. The ones on assistance pay how much?$0.00....correct! And just an FYI about the condom: they are free at your local health department but they don't always work.

Thats why I am very greatful for what I have great isurance (BCBSTN) I pay $10 for medication and $15 copay or $0 if I go to the clinic out south. Be greatful for what you have and quit complaining about those that dont have as much, you never know when you will be in their shoes.

Yeah I mean, I'm sorry but I'd rather haven teenagers having kids than that Dugger family pop anymore little christian babies out. So which is worse, two teens having one kid? Or one family having 20 plus children?

I think it's pretty funny that most of the people on Facebook making negative comments are more than likely Pro-Life..... damned if you do, damned if you don't with some people.

Everyone doesn't have the perfect insurance available. I also have bcbstn with up to a $50 prescription copay and a $5000 individual deductible. Not complaining about what I don't have. It just makes me angry that there are some that I know take advantage of the system. Once again I understand that accidents happen and you may need help supporting the first child. That doesn't mean that you need to keep having babies with multiple fathers and expect other people to pay for them. Obama thinks birth control should be given? Just because its available doesnt mean that the person will use it.
