I'm sure college students are champing at the bit to buy organic nuts and berries when there's pizza, nuggets and mac and cheese at their finger tips.I can the see kids cutting lose from their parents in a wild reckless abandon to buy overpriced carrots and celery Par-ty!

Wonder why cancer and diseases are so rampant in everyone....... Have you tried our Farmer's Market in town? Wonderfull fresh produce.

SarcasticWit wrote: First Point...the new downtown "healthy community development"...how many tax dollars do you think will get shoveled into this boondoggle?...I've lived here almost 9 years and I can tell you that this "development" will not help downtown..the main problem with "downtown" is there is no reason for people to come downtown after dark or on weekends...walk around downtown...what do you find?...the vast majority of storefront businesses are those that operate M-F, 8 (or 9) to 5...yeah, a few places to eat...but the either keep these general hours, or they aren't worth coming back downtown to eat...oh...oh, and of course, this is IMHO...and disagree all you want with FreeThinker, but companies look at crime and demographics when looking to expand into new areas...There is not enough reason for any MAJOR chain to open in downtown...Hell, if Starfucks and Quizos (or was it Schlotskis?) can't make it there, what makes you think any major corp would want to take a chance?...Granted, Green Frog is nice...but I'd like to see their P&Ls...and even they, with the "cupcake" boom, don't use other "local" businesses for items...what does that say? Second Point...I've long said Jackson needs "upscale" shopping...particularly grocery...why would Kroger or Wal-Mart do anything more than what they need to to get business?...They have no incentive to try and bring in new products (produce, meats, etc)...How about a Williams-Sonoma or a Restoration Hardware?...Why not?...realistically you have a bunch of nickel millionaires (who are all part of the good ole boy system that are running the city/county) who like the status quo... Ok...I've rambled enough... Green Frog tried to look into local cupcakes. They need ones that are shelf stable and not made fresh everyday, which is the only reason they didnt do it local.
