Where to begin! I have educated myself about this "facility", and have known of it since we welcomed to our family, a survivor of JRC, back in February. Turning a blind eye, and ACTUALLY defending this place, you should be ashamed of yourself. I wonder what rescue group you are involved with Anna/United States?? Breaking the laws at JRC, somehow thinking they are above the law, NO basic care or attention, comfort, medical, or humane treatment given to the animals, documented abuse, starved animals, abused animals, animals with bullets in them, on and on. Dump a poor, over-bred, abused, elderly, injured animal, and leave with ANOTHER animal, no questions asked!! A SIX week old puppy "adopted" for $10.00. We live in the United States, and the year is 2013. ANY so called rescue group that does not try to change the horrific and illegal situation at JRC for the present, and future animals, should be ashamed. Take some pictures, find a home for some, pat yourself on the back, block other people trying to make a positive change. When you stay quiet and "don't rock the boat" you are no better than those doing all the evil. Look at the records ~ the people running JRC lie, and they, along with the government of the State of TN, need to be held accountable. Positive change will take place for the animals ~ we are not going away!!
Jayme, The rescue group you are saying this about is STAT. STAT took the pictures of your little Lucy. STAT asked NELR to sponsor her. STAT found the foster to care for her while she underwent her surgery. STAT put her on the transport and did the required paperwork so that she could legally cross state lines. You did not think STAT was so evil then did you?

To the public who may read this:
Here is what is sorry, and what shows the true colors of these reformers; if it were only about reforming JRC and about the good of the animals, these folks would not be concentrating on shredding the reputation of the one rescue who is there day in, day out, to try to make sure no animal is missed. The goal is that every animal is photographed and networked. They do not always reach that goal but they try. They make their photos available to anyone for the purpose of networking (though they do ask that they not be used on craigslist). They pull and foster for reputable rescues like NELR, they also do their own rescues locally and have a chapter in Pennsylvania. Visit their website at savingtheanimalstogether.org and see for yourself the organization being ripped to shreds by these people who claim to be all about the animals. STAT never tried to impede the efforts of the protesters, they simply asked to be left out of it so they could concentrate on their work. You don't see counter-protests. They wanted to be left alone. From the beginning of this movement STAT was dragged into it. I'm signing my name to this and not hiding behind a false name because I'm telling the truth and have nothing to hide. I'm a former board member of STAT and while I've left the board and no longer help with rescue, they are the one of a handful of rescues who will always have my support. I appreciate and respect that they made JRC their only mission and never waivered from that. I appreciate that in the short time they have existed (less than 2 years) they have saved so many animals indirectly and directly.

I have nothing to say negative about stat, they are tireless in their effort and i respect all they do , it is the community of jackson that makes this RC facility overrun , leash laws are never enforced, animals are dumped and unaltered , owners decide they dont want their dogs so they owner surrender them which gives only that day to be adopted or they get put down, stat does an amazing job , but the powers that reside over RC need to get stricter on how the community deals with overpopulation of unwanted animals, kennels should be have stricter guidelines here there are too many backyard breeders turning out genetically inferior "purebred" and "designer" pups that turn out to be part of the problem, stat has done an amazing job for the 2 years or so i have seen them on facebook, Diane Butler is an amazing advocate for the animals here as are many others but they need more effort and the community needs to step up for the sake of these animals.

Actually, they use a drug that's even cheaper than ACE and it takes a much smaller amount in the vein.

The 'adoption' rate in inaccurate. Rescues/rescuers are the reason for 90% of all dogs and cats getting out of there alive. I am a rescuer, I know how the animals are treated at JRC...it is anything but humanely. I have adopted dogs from there and I pull dogs from there all the time. We, the rescues, want people in Jackson to know the truth and what you hear Gary Bailey say is not the truth. Go ask to look at the records and then you will know.
have any of you reported this to anyone? i know theres a petition circulating and i forwarded it to aspca and national humane society

i will tell you why. people us so called evolved species are not capable of unconditional love ! But those animals love you regardless and no matter what! just think about it!

Exactly. That is what I said. JRC does NOTHING to adopt/save a dog or cat. The rescuers are the ONLY ones saving lives in that stinking place. If outsiders didn't work their asses off to get those animals out; it would be a 99% kill rate. God bless all rescues and rescuers!
This town needs to WAKE up and realize what is happening at JRC...it is disgusting and disturbing among other things. They ARE operating illegally and yes, Mayor Harris knows it. Ask him.
what do you mean illegal? im curious im just now hearing about all this(appalling)

Cause trouble in VA! You have no idea what you are talking about. You are making uneducated statements on hearsay. This is RABIES CONTROL not a rescue shelter. They have animals that are already in terrible shape surrendered to them. I have a rescue dog and cat before you go there.

If the rescue people wouldn't hang out at Rabies Control all day trying to scoop up all of the "better" breed dogs and snapping pictures(which by the way is not allowed) and posting them on facebook more would actually get adopted out. By the way, they can't keep all if the animals that they receive. They get new animals everyday. There is no room for them. That's why they get put down.

Hehehe! That's the best you could come up with? You need to read the statement you made that caused my reply. Rescue groups do not hang out there to "scoop up" anything. Well.....one does...but most rescues actually scoop up the ones that are not wanted because they are NOT the cute little designer pups or the big tough fighters. Get some real statistics a and educate yourself before you try to educate others. All the info you just spewed out of your piehole is opinion based, biased and blatantly WRONG! If you've never put your foot in the door, you have no way of backing your statement up. With real data, you wouldn't have to worry about my intelligence.

I think it's great someone is trying to do something about it. More power to them! The way we treat our animals is an indication of civility in society.

the protest is serving a purpose because of all of the letters and focus on the non state law complying issues at this rabies control , the county commission allocated 45000 yesterday to have a euthanasia room at the facility. the squeaky wheel gets the grease!
