The only reason I ever went to Shirley's is because I wanted Dawn to make my cakes. I had heard the way Shirley was treating her employees and her customers. Her cakes were very dry and tasted like cardboard. I would have only a few pieces gone from the cake that I paid a lot of money for. I will never walk in that door again. I have followed Dawn and she still makes all my cakes. Her cakes are moist and delicious! I have only a few pieces left over from her cakes and everyone always tells me how good the cakes are and I have referred many people to her. She seems to be doing very well. She was never rude to me.

I know Dawn personally and worked with her for a while many years ago. She is a very kind person, and is an extremely talented baker/decorator. Some people like Dawn are taken advantage of, mistreated by others, and out of jealousy she becomes an easy target for certain types of people to try to bring her down by acting childish, and posting lies about her on forums such as this one because they are not even mature enough to state their REAL names! I am so happy for her because she has proven herself in being successful on her own! Every cake we have received from her have been wonderful, absolutely perfect both on the inside and the out. Furthermore, Dawn is a beautiful person on the inside and the outside! Very few people in this world are like she is, and always has been. I wish her nothing but continued success and happiness! She deserves it! As for the rest of you who are too cowardly to state your real names but yet post false information and need to remember "those who live in glass houses should NOT throw stones, and if you can't say something nice about someone Don't say anything at all! For those of you who claim to be Christians you need to read the book of John in your bibles, there you can find what God says about who should "cast stones..."

Dawn not only makes great cakes ( my cousin has always used her and she
Ordered my birthday cake from her a couple of years ago) but Dawn also has donated 100's of brownies to the annual autism run and other fundraisers - what do you do to help others?

I bought a cake in there this past May, a 3 tier black & pink one. The cake was so dry, I called during my childs first birthday and told them how unhappy I was with it, and don't feel as though they should of sold me such a dry cake. I boxed the entire cake back up, and that Monday I drove to jackson once again and took the cake back, and they said Shirley wasn't there. I left my name and number and she was supposed to call and "let me know what they could do for me." Guess what, I never got a call. I used Shirley's bakery for cookies for every occasion, and personally loved the cookies! But I run a buisness, and would never leave a repeat customer unhappy. I paid for something I didn't even get anything out of. I took the cake back, and still paid $75 for it....REDICULOUS if you ask me! It's sad that a buisness would be so money hungry that they could care a less at the end of the day if your happy....

I've never had anything that remotely tasted good from Shirley's. I use to work in a restaurant that had banquet rooms and we frequently had weddings there. Anytime the cake was Shirley's, we were throwing away slices that only has one bite taken out of it. We had this one wedding that told us they didn't want to take the remaining cake home and we could have it. It was this giant, five layer cake, white on white. All the employees and the owner of the place gathered in the room to get our slice. He took one bite and tried to spit it out. I say TRIED because all that came out was powder. It was so dry we couldn't even swallow. Needless to say, the whole thing went in the dumpster. I'd rather have to make my own wedding cake than subject my guests to Shirley's cakes.
