Ok trying to follow converstaion but curious as to why you are jumping on someone questioning if or why Englewood (with the tithe money) is developing/purchasing a professional christmas card for the pastor to send out.

I want mention the cuts in the budget, etc. but would be curious where this expense is allocated.

Are you aware of the expense of a personal security guard for Ben? I doubt that comes cheap.

Regardless, don't bury your head in the sand and then jump on those who question what appears to unnecessary spending, etc. It makes it appear you or the church is afraid of the TRUTH becoming knowledge.

to "I am a member" its funny that because I take a stance for my church and pastor that you say I'm jumping on someone and that I have my head in the sand. I have been a member 21 years. Is it perfect? No. Am I happy with all decisions made?No
I will continue to attend there and give my tithe. If at any point it becomes a church that I can't worship in for any reason I will find another church. As for the Christmas cards, its a no win situation. If cards had not been sent to the entire church family someone would complain that they didn't get a card from their pastor.

Understand but I think the church and especially its staff should follow Apostle Paul's advice and always be above reproach in how the tithe is spent/allocated. That includes having open, honest communication with any church member who questions expenditures.

Unfortunately, when you keep financial information a closely held secret or simply ignore attempts by members who ask questions/send emails then the staff should expect memebers to naturally deduct something is being done in the dark and afraid of what the light might reveal.

I agree with you on several points but I believe this could all be avoided by the EBC staff providing open, honest communication to members, especially when they have questions. Instead, it seems to many are attacked in a juvenile manner with the hope intimidation will cause them to drop the subject.

Regardless, I will comment on another point about a new worship facility. I will cease to attend/give and delete membership if they vote to build a new 5 million + dollar worship facility before offering additional services, including on Saturday, by other ministers if need be. They Chapel is sparsely attended and the fact the church is still carring over 3 million in debt is proof enough the staff seems out of touch to even explore a new worship facility.

You are teh biggest piece of shit. This fucking guy believes only CofC people have a chance to be saved. I'm Catholic, but would never this kind of shit about someone's religion. This guy says everybody else that doesn't follow his cult, is going to hell. I understand this church that everybody is talking about is not Catholic, which I belong to. Surely though, y'all don't think other people's religions are going to hell. Because this guy has told me many times that!!

I found the perfect church, and the perfect congregation. Its home, me, my family, and the bible. No backstabbing, no gossip, no ties. Worship God at home, how you see fit, and screw these others.

You are the typical mile wide, 1 inch deep parishoner Englewood is known for. Defend the clergy REGARDLESS of how little ACCOUNTABILITY there is at this place.......

Churches used to be open with their finances. You could see what the preacher made at every business meeting. They are now secret because the members allow it. If the members would take back control of their churches then their would not be a problem.

Been to my second program at this church to watch family. Never once does this preacher move around and mingle/introduce himself. He seems to wait for others to approach his make believe throne. When I asked my Aunt if this was normal, she said yes. She said he usually only talks to staff. Folks, this was an intimate setting last night and not once does he go up and introduce himself to anyone.

He would be FIRED at most other churches with that type of leadership/ego. I don't care how "good" his preaching is, its obvious from my aunt and others he needs to be shown the door with that pompous attitude. No surprise he lives in a mega mansion and thinks he should have a rent a cop with him at all times. Reminds me of Jim Baker at PTL!

I don't go to church there but I've visited with my entire family. During the "greet" time, Ben walked to the second row where we were sitting and introduced himself and asked if those were my children sitting with me. At the time, it took me by surprise be because I wasn't expecting it. Also - regarding the personal security guard, my sister in law and her family are very VERY involved in this church, and both she AND her husband say there is NO security guard except the one who's always been there for the safety of everyone in the building. I don't know what you people expect. He can't possibly have a personal conversation with 5,000 people every single Sunday.

Some people you will never please but Ben does have a retired JPD officer who is on campus with him whenever he is on campus. This new position was hired for him due to threats he is reportedly receiving weekly.

Sorry but your sister in law is incorrect on this one but no surprise since Ben and the staff purposely keep the members in the dark about a heck of a lot more than just this.

No one is. Because if he was getting in real threat of any type the the police would be involved, etc. Plus he would have security when he goes to Kroger, Walmart, etc. It is all for show and his BIG EGO to match his BIG Mansion and desire for the BIGGEST Sanctuary in Jackson......

2nd row......He sits on the first row so he basically turned around and spoke to you and that surprised you?

Why did it surprise you? Do you consider it a miracle he actually spoke to you?

You sound a little bit like a teenager does when they have a crush on an older boy who actually says hello to them for the first time in the hallway?

No....he was sitting on one of the large chairs on the pulpit. And I was surprised because I was turned around talking to someone behind me and there WAS no one sitting in front of me. It could've been the kid down the street and it would've surprised me because I wasn't expecting someone in front of me. However, now that you mention it, maybe I was surprised because he IS somewhat more well known than most of us, and I was probably impressed that he took the initiative and time to talk to the congregation. Gosh this is the very thing I was talking about earlier. I actually said something nice about him, but the likes of YOU managed to find a way to find something wrong with him AND me even in that. Pathetic.

Religious leaders who live in mansions, but call other religions false, is a bad example of a spiritual leader. I know people get onto the Catholic Church a lot for the struggles they had with molestation, but the priests are essentially poor, and almost never live in any structure that is more than a middle class home. Except for the bishop.

It seems like other religions let the pastors, preachers, etc. have more luxuries and get away with stealing people's money more often. Why is this?
Is it a lack of structure is this particular church, or this another one of those churches where the pastor is a phony, who is just trying to turn a profit, and not spread the word of God?

Either way: if the faith that this is apart of held its preachers accountable, then you wouldn't worry about such nonsense.
