Good for u. Now back to the subject, no matter how much u do not like it, you can't change the taxes so pay them and move on. Instead of thinking about people using it unfairly think about all the people that need it that you are helping. You can't change it so why bitch about it.

That's where you are wrong. That is why we elect law makers, to be our voice in Washington. They need to listen to the people. American Citizens are sick and tired of free loaders. They can put things in place to prevent the abuse.

For those of you who don't think there are millions who are abusing the system, then go to Walmart at the first of the month and do some observations. All the mama's with their 6 kids wearing designer clothes. They have Gucci bags and Iphones. They pull out their EBT cards from their Louis Vittan wallets to buy $300 worth of groceries. They then load all of their babies and groceries into their Escalade and drive off.

Today in the Jackson Sun is a prime example of how messed up things have gotten. Questioning if kids should be held back. Really? What better way to teach our youth you don't have to work for anything than to pass them without being able to do the work. Do a crappy job or better yet don't do the work at all and that is OK, sweetie, we don't want you too feel bad about yourself so we will pass you. I would think passing them and the child being behind indefiniately would "hurt their self-esteem" more than being held back a year. Then it goes a step further...dont do well in school or dont have parents that work and you can have a FREE college education although you will probably waste it because you don't know how to read. If you do your work, make good grades and have parents that work, then sorry...no help or you...the tuition is too high because we have to pay for the ones that are entitled to go for FREE.
Its a shame that rewards no longer come from hard work or good work. They come from who can whine the most and do the least. I am all for reform where anyone on welfare must do so many volunteer hours to get their check. No matter how disabled you are, MOST are capable of giving something back, from stuffing envelopes or sitting on the computer all day. Or better yet, something that could possibly teach them a skill that they could use to get a real job. That would be a crazy idea, wouldn't it? In today's society, there are many different things people that are not physically able to work can do. They may not can dig a ditch, but they can lick an envelope or use a phone.

Yes i am. My grandfather sat in the er for almost 9 hours with no help for a compound fracture to his ankle and lost his leg due to neggligence at jmcgh. Now as for ppl getting scholarships I agree. My school was completely paid for with scholarships because my mother didn't have enough to pay for me to go to school but I graduated to 10 in my high school class so I earned my keep. Many people that have better jobs and can afford tuitiom shouldn't complain, the money that goes to scholarships etc help children who can not afford college. Would you rather pay to. Try and help them get a degree where u don't have to pay for their food stamps or what. You can't complain about every thing taxes go for. Hello the lottery which plenty of ppl get is paid for willingly by ppl that choose to play the lottery and in order to receive it you have to maintain a c average so you can't just sit around and do nothing. I got the lottery and the pell, the pell grant is for those with low income and single parent homes which describes my situation perfectly. Please quit bitching you either help send them to college or pay for their food. Some ppl will bitch about everything when they have to help those less fortunate.

Why did you say you have no children if you do? If your in a low income house hold and have children your probably one of these people receiving benifits which is why you are so defensive.

It's not the people that just need a leg up that I complain about. If you were top 10 in your class you earned that scholarship. It's the ones that do barely enough to get by, go to college for free and party it away or just flunk out because they only did the bare minimum in HS. Come home to stick their hand out for more. Suddenly they have a bad back or have anxiety issues, or better yet pregnant would make it easy to be given a living for at least 5 years until the kid goes to school. What happened to earning a living? It has turned into drawing a check for a living for some. Would it be against some law that these people on welfare be required to do some to give back to society to EARN their check? Or would that be asking to have to get up and do something?

I hate to tell you this, but if you were in the top ten of your class, that had to only be about 11 in the whole class. Everybody in the top ten of my graduating class could spell.
