"The Black Book of Communism: Crimes, Terror, Repression, published by Harvard University Press, is the work of eleven scholars that ignited a continental firestorm when it first hit bookstores in France in 1997. The authors estimate the century's death toll at the hands of Communist governments (excluding wars) at 100 million people. Country by country, deaths by the state in China stand at 65 million, in the USSR 20 million, Vietnam 1 million, North Korea 2 million, Cambodia 2 million, Eastern Europe 1 million, Latin America 150,000, Africa 1.7 million, and Afghanistan 1.5 million. Additionally, the international Communist movement murdered about 10,000 people throughout the world." (Author's emphasis)
This does not describe most atheists at all.

I think your assuming all atheists are like aunti theist, but you do understand he's an anti-theist right?

I teach my family good morals, do unto others as you would like them to do unto you. Simple as that. Yes I believe that religion is not healthy for society, but I'm not an anti-theist by any means.

I think your confused of what "true atheism" is.

P.s.--- please don't associate atheists with auntie theist, like I said he's like a radical Muslim, he by no means represents the group.

I almost shudder at the thought of alluding to the most fatal example of the abuses of grief which the history of mankind has preserved -- the Cross. Consider what calamities that engine of grief has produced!
-- John Adams, letter to Thomas Jefferson

Marx was wrong. Religion is not the opiate of the people. Opium suggests something soporific, numbing, dulling. Too often religion has been an aphrodisiac for horror, a Benzedrine for bestiality. At its best it has lifted spirits and raised spires. At its worst it has turned entire civilizations into cemeteries.
-- Phillip Adams, Adams vs. God

In those parts of the world where learning and science have prevailed, miracles have ceased; but in those parts of it as are barbarous and ignorant, miracles are still in vogue.

Stalin:
Some evidence suggests Stalin, although not following a particular religion, may have been spiritual (had personal faith, but did not practice a religion).

English historian Simon Sebag Montefiore studied Stalin’s hobbies and personal library, what Stalin liked to read, what kind of marks he left in his books. He found that Stalin liked to quote long quotes from the Bible. Stalin left such mark about God in the book by Anatole France "Last pages. Dialogues under a rose. About God": "Don‘t know traces, don‘t see. There is no Him for them." It seems that Stalin thought he knew God’s traces and saw God, not like others.

Stalin "denied categorically to prescribe atheistic literature to his personal library, fastidiously calling it ""antireligious waste-paper (junk)"".("Secr et life of Stalin : By materials of his books and archive : According to Stalinism" by Ilizarov.B.S. 2004)

Freedom of speech, press, assembly, association, political conviction and religious belief and freedom of the person are the people's most important freedoms…All religions are permitted in China's Liberated Areas, in accordance with the principle of freedom of religious belief. All believers in Protestantism, Catholicism, Islamism, Buddhism and other faiths enjoy the protection of the people's government so long as they are abiding by its laws. Everyone is free to believe or not to believe; neither compulsion nor discrimination is permitted.

Pol Pot:
Prince Norodom Sihanouk was the former king of Cambodia from 1941 as well as Head of State from 1955 to 1970 before resigning in 1976. He once said of Pol Pot:

"Pol Pot does not believe in God but he thinks that heaven, destiny, wants him to guide Cambodia in the way he thinks it the best for Cambodia, that is to say, the worst. Pol Pot is mad, you know, like Hitler."

Man you sure got turned around on that subject! I am an atheist, because I looked, studied, considered many religions, and discovered that they are all nonsense! All gods are man made, that's one thing for sure. IOW, atheism is a conclusion, I looked and found no gods. There is a poular Jew god peole talk about around here, but I found the Jew god as unreliable as any other god. WHY THE JEW GOD? No one has been able to tell me that, they say they follow him but do not keep very many of his commandments. An ATHEIST has CLUDED in his mind that there is no god. His search has come up with no answer. Someone please try a Greek, Roman or Syrian god and see of they do any better.

Defences to the Problem of Evil
Theodicy is the branch of study in theology and philosophy that defends the goodness of God despite the existence of evil.[2] In traditional Christianity and Judaism the book of Job is used to explain the existence of evil.[3] In recent times Christian apologists often cite Alvin Plantinga's free will defense in regards to the logical problem of evil.[4][5] The work of St. Augustine is also cited in regards to theodicy.[6] Dr. Ron Rhodes of Reasoning from the Scriptures Ministry states regarding this issue regarding the existence of evil:
“...it is impossible to distinguish evil from good unless one has an infinite reference point which is absolutely good. Otherwise one is like a boat at sea on a cloudy night without a compass (i.e., there would be no way to distinguish north from south without the absolute reference point of the compass needle).
The infinite reference point for distinguishing good from evil can only be found in the person of God, for God alone can exhaust the definition of "absolutely good." If God does not exist, then there are no moral absolutes by which one has the right to judge something (or someone) as being evil. More specifically, if God does not exist, there is no ultimate basis to judge the crimes of Hitler. Seen in this light, the reality of evil actually requires the existence of God, rather than disproving it.[7]

Atheists, like Albert Einstein, maintain that morality is a matter of social ties and empathy and has nothing to do with fear of punishment or promise of reward.

A LIITLE RESEARCH ON EINSTEIN WILL REVEAL HE MAY NOT HAVE BEEN THE ATHEIST MOST THINK HE WAS. HE WAS A FOlloer Of SPINOZISM, WHICH DOES BELIEVE IN A GOD OF NAture.

A lot of athiests that are more moral than so called christains. We are called to love everyone as Jesus didd.

My best friend was an atheist. She was and still is a good moral person.

She eventually did find Jesus and now attends church faithfully.

It wasnt because i tried to force religion and stuff on either either bbecause I didnt. I loved her for her. I was there for her when she went through some pretty down tiems. During one of those down times she met Jesus.

I think if more of us so called christians just learn to love one another the wolrd would be a better place and you would see more people come to know God.

However most so called christians are hypocritical . There to point out your faults and act like they are better than you are. We are all sinners. One sin isnt creater than the other. Church is for the sinners. We forget why we are there.

You can call what what you wish. I don't title myself "Atheist" but I don't believe in any God's. I work hard everyday and love my friends and family. Pay my bills on time and consider myself a moral person. I don't criticize religion even though I think it's silly. Live your life and be good to one another.

For your information:

If all the Atheists & Agnostics left America, they'd lose 93% of The National Academy of Sciences & less than 1% of the prison population.

Well, for many reasons. For me personally, I became a little happier when I realized I wasn't born doomed. I was happier when I realized that there's no such thing as thought crime that warrants my eternal punishment. Embracing the reality that my parents made me - not a god that someone made up for the purposes of crowd-control-did me the great favor of relieving a lot of self-imposed religious pressure. I'm happier and I feel like a more well-adjusted human being.
