I do have a reason to be bitter about Flatiron. It employs some very good people; Hardworking & honest people. Checks began to bounce, tips were not being paid on time and the staff was being yelled at more frequently. All of this happened, while the owner reduced tip shares and increased percentage required by parties to pay (28%). The owner would drink and eat with his friends and family, running up large tabs, and then pass out bad checks to people or postpone banquet checks.

I have no beef when any of the employees that work there. I only have problems with those who hide behind illusive usernames and crony business people. Stop blaming things on the economy. Every other restaurant is busy in this town.

As for being fired from Miss Ollie's, yes, I was fired. The reason being the manager at the time came in drunk one night causing a scene. I called the owner the next day to tell him about it and he apologizes for the incident. A few days later, he called my me, leaving a voicemail firing me. I was fired from a place that now pours well liquor into their bottles of Grey Goose and Crown Royal. I feel really bad about being fired from a place like that. I stood up for the things that I knew to be right and it did not sit well with mgmt and owner. That manager quit the next week. Coincidence, I think not.
With your incorrect spelling and grammar I can see why you did so well in college. I'm also pretty sure that your house has to do with your stepfather.

Sorry about the mishaps in the grammar. I tend to get upset when people attack my character and then hide their identity.

My stepfather has nothing to do with my house. I obtained the loan for the house without my parents help.

How can a place that claims to be the "finest" restaurant in town that charges out the frame prices, for the same quality of nicer establishments that dont charge as much, have giant roaches? My husband and I frequent there often and it was a special night for us, so we went to flatiron. To my astonishment there was a giant roach crawling up the wall next to my seat, I politely grabbed it in a napkin and gave it to my server. When I went to move my plate I felt something odd on the bottom of it, and noticed two more small roaches on the bottom of my plate! Gross!!! I am not spending $200 dollars on a "nice" meal to clean roaches of the wall...Maybe you all should call Terminx. Work on your continuing business problems instead of claiming to be elite. That's more bugs then I have ever seen out in a dining room, and if it's like that in public view think of how it is in the kitchen where I am sure they run rampent.

He hasnt changed a bit. Still in there every night drinking bottles of wines and food with girlfriend and friends. Never rings up anything and doesnt ever tip who waits on him. He is a sorry person to work for. Such a shame he has managed to stay in business. Fyi for those who still eat there mr frank gets 3.2% of all our food sales for bs reasons and we still have to tip the bar on top of that! And when there r large parties there he will pocket the gratuity and only pay servers $25 an hour so we may make $75when he gets anywhere from $100 & up...parties usually run $1000 plus so add gratuity to that..last party I worked frank got $800! He will go down eventually!

I've heard all that lately. It has always been known that he resents his servers who make good tips and has always tried to find a way to get his share of them. There have been a lot of great servers there who have left (probably carried out the front door by the roaches that run rampant). But the place just isn't the same.

It's been lackluster and subpar since the doors were opened. What a sham! Don't believe every thing you see a picture of in VIP.

if he is doing all these f'ed up things to his employees, then why hasn't the better business bureau been called? a restaurant owner cannot steal tips from his employees. it would be pretty easy to set him up and present the proof to the bbb. then he would go down like he (from what it sounds like) damn well should.

THE BBB is a joke. If you pay them a higher membership you get a higher rating and the BBB has no ability to do ANYTHING other than say an issue was UNRESOLVED....

that sucks. it's sad what money can do these days... this A**hole needs to go down, judging from what I've read. a good, honest restaurant owner/manager is a dime a dozen these days. I won't be going back in flat iron knowing what I know now.

He has been reported several times to the labor board. He studies the laws to know exactly how much he can steal from his employees without getting into trouble. His actions are within legal boundaries when it comes to his taking tips out of his servers pockets, but is it ethical? Ask those who have nearly gone to jail for unpaid child support, when in fact has deducted it from their checks and not paid.

Not ethical at all! He rides his business on his servers tips just to keep the doors open. My daughter worked there for a little while. One night a server broke a glass in the walkway out on the floor and frank wouldnt let anyone sweep the glass up bc it would disturb the guest so he'd rather them pick the slivers of glass up w their fingers or leave it for someone to fall. Lawsuit hello! Dont get me started on all his health code violations...i guess when u own your own business u can do things the way u want health code doesnt apply to frank!

This type of conversation really saddends me. I know for a fact that these false accusations are nothing more than that....false. Anytime someone in this world tries to better themselves by working, fighting for what they believe in, etc; and is somewhat successful; other people will try to bring them down. Misery loves company. Go out and open a restaurant; in today's world, small business owners are being taken down by the government for taxes, because the small business cannot afford to pay these government officials under the table like big corporations do.
As far as "stealing" tips from the servers goes....think about this statistic....when you take your car to be serviced, let's use Wal-Mart(big coporate company) and the bill is $900....do you honestly think the mechanic that serviced that car received $900 for his 2 hours of work. It's called OVERHEAD! And on that note, by show of hands, how many of you people on here.. own, or have ever owned, your OWN business?

Again, overhead costs are the reason for tip out. Every restaurant in the business, makes employees pay a tip out. And you wrote you only get $25 an hour. GREED......that's all I have to say about that. Most people in this world, who have education do not make $25 an hour. And for an owner of a business to pay himself is a bad thing? How do you expect that person to live. Go open your own business and let me know how it goes. Obviously, you need to further your education if you believe that your are worth more than $25 an hour for serving food and drinks. Where are you working now?
