I only knew Tony for a little while, but have heard countless stories from people who have been touched by him.
His passion for life was nearly as big as his smile. You will be deeply missed Tony.
I had the opportunity to meet Tony Phillips many years ago. He was a rarity amongst Jackson's doctors - very down-to-earth by Jackson standards. He had such a kind spirit.

Dr. Tony Phillips was an incredible man and physician who gave of himself for many years. He will be greatly missed by many of us who cared for him. We all have problems. I pray blessings on his family.

How will this person get theres? With karma? WTF? seriously?

They made a general statement about drug abuse and people who abuse them.

I'm thankful Tony didn't kill anybody else...that we know of...when he'd go on his cocaine binges and drive around not knowing where or who he was. Sounds like a stupid doctor to me. Eat up with money and self indulgence. Another threat to society in the ground.

Be careful of judging others! No one has the right to judge! Downing the character of a man who is no longer here says soo much about ones own character! Takes a real amazing person to talk smack! Hopefully no one in there life will be affected by drugs or alcohol or anyone who has decided to kick Dr. Phillips now that he is gone, bet they will think differently!
AND YES KARMA, what goes around comes around and those who are assholes bad mouthing Dr. Philips YES YOU WILL GET YOURS!!!!!!!!!!

When I read this post, i was truly hurt. I personally knew him and his family. He was a great man who loved God, sang like an angel, and was an amazing cardiologist. He had an infectious smile and laugh. He saved many lives and touched people everyday. It's really sad how people are talking about how he died. His family is hurting so bad right now. How can you let go of a son, brother, cousin, uncle, or friend? It's really hard. Dr. Phillips was a great person. So please just leave him alone and let him rest in peace.

comments like this one is very often people with addictions have a hard time recovering. its called low self esteem. But if you would read the disciplinary reveiw boards summary its very obvious that he had mental health issues which does often lead to drug or alcohol abuse, but illegal drugs were not mentioned in any thing that i have found. He was my husband and my best friends cardiologist. My friend suffered a personal injury and when they admitted him to the hospital cardiac problems were found. He had no insurance and unable to get private insurance Dr. Phillips took care of his office visit fees and much of his meds.I work in the medical field and often interact with doctors.I promise this type of patient care is very rare.Prayers to his family and friends. May he rest in peace.

I went to Union with him. He was nice, kind, quiet and seemed so unassuming. He worked in the labs tirelessly. He was brilliant. I knew he would be a great doctor and I wondered how someone so down to earth would be a doctor. I heard he was a fantastic one. Please stop saying all the bad things. I knew him when as they say.

I hope that if any of you idiots ever suffer a loss like this in your family, people will show you more compassion than you have shown our family. We are grieving the loss of a man we loved - father, son, brother, uncle, cousin. He was human and made mistakes, but we loved him and his loss leaves a void in our family. To have to grieve that void as well as the cruel things people are saying about Tony is unfair. How can you be so awful?
Why would any one grieving be the least be worried about what completely anonymous post on web site say? Get back to getting over your lost. Stay out of the topix swamp if you take it seriously.

amen!!! All the people judging Dr Phillips will have to sit on their on bottom & be judged one day b4 God and I hope he is kinder to them than they are for their fellow man.. Tony's family has my prayers and love, he saved my uncle & mother's lives, he was a good man and we all make mistakes, if you think you don't; then you are not alive but just taking up air, so take a good look at yourself b4 you judge someone else!!!!!

My family just found out about Dr Tony this last Friday. My father had 3 heart attacks over a year ago & Dr Tony saved his life. He was told to check back to see if everything that was going on with him blew over.. He wanted to see Dr Tony again. When he called Friday he was advised that he "was deceased". I just want u the family to know that my family will be forever grateful to him, we have our father because of Dr Tony. In spite of what was going on in his life, we prayed he would over come it and would have gladly returned as his patient.
I just wanted u to know we are sorry for your loss and no matter what the details of his life struggles, or circumstances of his death.. He will forever be remembered with honor and appreciation by our family.(We live in N West, Tn.)

He was a good person and fellow addict that relapsed after years of sobriety. He took great care of my parents. May we remember him for the years of good that he had in his life and not the bad years..

He may have been the best person anyone ever met. But, when someone gets involved in drugs, they change. If he was involved in drugs, stating a fact is not judging. However, if it was not true but just a suspicion, then it should never have been mentioned. Too often people want to speak up and say something whether it's true or not. That makes you a gossip which is just as wrong as someone who does drugs.
