Traffic Woes

Anybody know what the survey crews are surveying for on I40? For several weeks I have noticed the all the way from exit 80 to 85. I noticed them all the way over by Waffle House at exit 80 today. Is there some kind of major construction project in the works? Maybe something to help with traffic on the bypass during rush hour? Anybody know anything about it?

We can only hope and pray that they are about to 'fix' our malfunction junctions?

I'm definitely hoping so. Hopefully, somebody on here can confirm or deny.

Ingress/egress lanes are really terrible here; whoever designed them was either high or drunk. Exit at 45 to go North is worst one I have ever tried to exit on; your exit lane runs into egress for Memphis and then into Vann Drive lanes. Who woulda thunk it?**LOL**

That is what I was thinking it looked like. I travel about 4 miles of I40 through Jackson to and from work. There are times when I have thought it would be nice to have more lanes. Hopefully they will redesign exit 80 and build an appropriate interchange to handle the flow of traffic. The next step to relieving the congestion during rush hour would be getting rid of the stop lights on the bypass.

They r supposed to redesign the bypass from I-40 to Old Hickory. It was all on the news back some time ago.

The bypass was never built to be a main business corridor. It was built to "bypass" the original hwy 45 which is Highland Ave. This was before there ever was an interstate highway. They couldn't widen Highland thru town back in those days so the "Highway 45 bypass" was built to carry travelers around the "city".

How was the bypass built before the Interstate system? Interstate was started under Eisenhower.
What year was the 45 Bypass construceted?
