I have found that the most racist people are those who expound on racist incessantly, just as the most intolerant people are often those espousing tolerance.

A major problem with racism is that our laws, as well as our media, have different definitions and standards of racism. Quite often the issue is culture or social-economic status rather than race.
In addition, the recent football scandal in Florida was some defending the use of the "N" word while others condemn it under any circumstances. This past week it was mentioned that a public school teacher was accused of being a racist because the teacher used "peanut and jelly sandwich" in the math problem. Why racist? A Some culture (races?) don't eat sandwiches. report today said that 4th graders in Indiana are required to read a biography Pastor Obama which suggests that all who disagree with his policies are automatically racists. In this article, Jefferts-Schori makes her usual flub in understanding scripture. She quotes the Revelation verse as those all people will be saved, when it is saying that people from all nations will be saved. With such diverse views of what is racism,
there is no wonder that there is finger pointing on all sides.

It seems that only the racists and the intolerant get tired of hearing about racial issues amongst other issues because they do not effect them, except only as an annoyance because they refuse to recognize that the people affected by racism, homophobia, and misogyny are only fighting to be treated with dignity as is their right as people created in God's own image. These annoyed individuals only think that fairness and simple decency apply only to those who look like themselves. It doesn't surprise me that the same people who are against Gays going to B&Bs buying wedding cakes etc; and use the Bible to justify their reasons against these actions were doing the same thing to interracial marriage and business involving serving Black people 65 to 70 years ago. Some people never learn.
