I hope Bank of the South remains with a small town friendly atmosphere. It sure would be disappointing to see it change into what Regions has become!

DOJ Needs to investigate NYSE Builder Mortgage Affiliates. The Charlotte Observer caught Beazer with their pants down and trashing data. Every NYSE Builders is a mirror of another builder, their policy manuals of full of shit and most of the ethics policies are fluff and if you follow them you will be shown the door and kiss your ass good-bye.
Great things to come

Have no fear...it will NOT go to what Regions has become I assure you. The new bank President is nothing even close to what Regions/Amsouth has now become. I forsee great things for this bank as Curt will do an awesome job and this bank will grow to what Union Planters was and stood for before the merger with Regions and then Amsouth coming in and doing things the "Amsouth" way....Regions is getting the bad name because of the imcompetence of the Amsouth employees and management and doing things their way....this bank will grow and become THE best bank in the Jackson and surrounding area.

Bank of the South is already the best bank in Crystal Springs. We have been doing business at the C.S. location for 12 years. C.D.'s, checking, savings and a mortgage on commercial property. We have never had the first problem. But one question.....why did they hire outside contractors for the recent remodel? To the best of my knowledge they didn't ask any local contractors. I hope this is not an early indicator of the changes in progress.

Dionne, I was in the bank the other day and asked the teller what she thought about all the recent changes made? Her exact words where "pitiful"! I thought that was very interesting considering she has been at the bank for several years.

I'm still trying to figure out why anyone would want to paint a brick building bright white?

Here's a thought. You've got this bank that is doing great. Lots of loyal customers. You have a parking problem. Half the parking spaces are used by employees. There is an empty lot next door. Rather than secure the required additional parking, you do a remodel of a building that is already perfectly suitable.

Well Dionne The new guy in Crystal Springs told me " I DO NOT LIKE TO DO BUSINESS WITH PEOPLE LIKE YOU". I have lived in Crystal Springs for over 40 years and never been told anything like that. I have several loans in Jackson as well and can never remember being treated like that. By the way, does the new guy even live in Crystal Springs? He is not one of us and needs to go back under the rock he came from!!!!!! I plan on doing some checking around about the new guy with my Jackson bankers. I will let you know what I find out. And if you wondering, I will be paying of my loans and moving to Copiah Bank....

Well Colonel Reb I am sure if you do your "checking aroung with your Jackson Bankers" you will find that he is one of the best there is....that is if who you are talking to even knows anything about the banking business and has been around a long time. This new guy you keep referring to...well Im not sure who he is, but the guy I am talking about is the guy that bought the bank. I also have a problem believing someone would tell you they do not like doing business with you....it puts the bank at too much liability. Dionne seems to be complaining about the remodel...well until the bank buy out is complete (as far as I know its not final yet) the "new guy" isnt behind the changes...the current owners of the bank are...so blame the current owners...not the new guy!
Colonel Reb if you dont like change then you should go back under the rock you came from! Change is inevitable no matter what line of work you are in....or if you dont like whats happening....why dont you purchase the bank!

They were desperate to purchase an existing bank rather than go through all the time and expense that goes with creating a new bank from scratch.

They have extensive plans to expand in the Memphis market which is why they hired Ben Madden. I have worked with all of the people with the new bank and I can tell you they are all good people and are committed to service.

Beth.....your way behind....all the meth lab types are in prison. Yes, we did have a problem. It got bad for awhile. We owe alot to the state drug enforcement personnel.

Bank of the South remains the friendly bank I have always known. With the exception of a frivolous remodel and a few new faces.....nothing has changed that would force me to look elsewhere.

As far as some "new guy" buying the bank.....I have no idea? I thought the board of directors owned the bank? You really think Kenny-boy and his Dad would sell a place that is making money? Dunno....I could be wrong. I guess the best way is to check out who is parked at the bank the night they have the next meeting.

This bank has no future in Memphis and you can take that to the bank! There is a big reason why this is the only bank in the state that would hire the current Crystal Springs branch manager. Coming to Memphis would just be another poor decision!

First and foremost, I think that you people know nothing about the bank. If you've got questions..go ask! They'd be happy to answer any of your questions. I know every male and female in the Flowood and Crystal Springs branch. They're all great people. They're is absolutely no reason to sit on a blog and talk trash all day. If you have something to say...voice your opinion! If not keep your mouth shut and find something bettr to do with your time. I just think that it is great fun coming to this blog periodically to read all of the comments that some of you people write that think you know something about the bank. If you aren't and employee or an investor...you don't know. I can PROMISE you that. So until the changes have been made please refrain from talking what you don't know.

So Happy.....why are you hiding behind the name "Happy"? Who are you? Not everyone in this blog is talking trash. Some of us really like the Bank of the South. And we do ask questions and voice opinions inside the bank face to face. But not you. You just tell us to shut up and hide behind your unknown name. I don't think you know squat about our bank. You certainly don't work there.....your attitude is not that of a Bank of the South employee. You sound more like a Regions employee.

Dionne, Just one point. Regions does not let good employees go. No major company allows good talent to hit the streets. The group that is trying to buy the bank is better than the current Crystal Springs manager, but that really is not saying very much at all.

C-O-D, no question, I'm sure than somewhere within Regions.....there are good employees. They just are not in Crystal Springs. Imagine this scenario. It's the first of the month, alot of folks standing in line at Regions. Two teller stations are open......one of them shuts down so she can step outside the Georgetown street side door and smoke a ciggie. Around the corner at Bank of the South....on the same day you will find no less than 4 teller stations open. I have stopped accepting Regions checks. They are just to difficult to deal with. Besides, they never smile.

Word on the street in the Memphis business community is that current ownership of this bank has made terrible decisions over the last year. We have also heard that the current management team is weak at best. Is it true that most of the employees do not have college degrees, including some officers? I am not trying to sling mud, just post what very very good business people are hearing about this bank in Memphis. As for it expanding into Memphis, I think it needs to take care of the problems it currently has before trying to act like a larger bank
