I've tried a lot of BBQ around this area and they are by far the best. Not very well known but good. Anyone have an opnion?

Dexter BBQ is pretty good, but it's overpriced.

I ate there a few months ago. Awful. The BBQ tasted like smoke. When I left, I smelled like grease and smoke. Will never go back.

They make a big hype about their free ice cream dessert too. It's just some old looking ice cream machine with off-brand chocolate syrup in a bottle next to it. The BBQ on the other hand is over-priced but it is pretty decent. Went there for lunch a few weeks ago and it was completely dead inside.
They give you a big menu at the front counter.. so if you don't know what you want beforehand you have to stand there and browse the menu in your hands while the cashier stares blankly around the room. They could at least have you sit down and offer you the menu like most restaurants.

Try the Pilot House across from JC Golf Course. The builing looks like a shanty, and often times the smoke in the building is unbearable, (i'm a non-smoker) but it is good BBQ. In my opinion, the best available in the area.

You jacks would not know good bbq if you saw it. With the cost of pork being what it is today, how can you gripe about prices? What do you want? 1955 prices? Any of you jacks ever been to Memphis?

They are really friendly there. We go in there all the time and they remember us and always ask how things are going. But for all you people who don't know. They can't help their prices. The price of pork is so crazy high right now. I agree that it could be a sit down place but I think they do it like that because that's how the one in dexter is. People make a big deal about ordering at the counter but honestly you do that at so many other places. People should get over them selves and realize they don't need to be catered to.

Pork or at least shoulders and boston butts are the same price they were 10 years ago, for your info.

I like dexter BBQ but I like the dairy bell better, it's on morgan oak, down by the bridge. I just got back in town, can't wait to get down there for a BBQ.4549
