I have been full of Jackson Pride for a long time but now it seems that the Jackson Schools are moving in the wrong direction and pushing our kids to fast just so they can get more money from the state. Look at the teacher to kid ratio, are you freaking kidding me! My first grader is a very sharp little boy but he is having troubles reading and it seems that the teacher really can't help him because she has 29 other kids to worry about. After doing some reading this morning I find that normal schools put first graders reading level from 1-5 and Jackson is expecting our kids to be at a level 10. Come on Jackson stand up and change the system now.

My son is also in school at Jackson and this is very disturbing.

That is why my child now goes to a private school. She is a year behind and working hard to catch up. Infuriates me to think my tax dollars are not being put to good use. In my opinion Jackson needs to "clean house" starting at the top and working down from there.

Jackson has always been like that. Who cares if your child is more intelligent than the children at other schools! It's a good thing that the kids are learning more and more each day. If schools were like they were back in your school days, we would be in serious trouble.

Boy howdy do we ever a a serious problem here. The kids who need help are ignored in clas I no this for a fact 2 boys one still in school. They (the teachers) have their favorites!!!!!!!!!! and to h@ll with the others students. They would just as soon flunk these kids as to help them very sad when your kid comes home every day upset. Then even more suffering they end up having to go to summer school and the still dont help them!!!!!!!! It is time to clean house Jackson Schools. no student is better than another treat them all the same. you the teachers wouldnt like it if it were your child being ignored and not taught!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah and I guarantee you that kids now are smarter than your generation was at that age.

I'm sure they are but that still has nothing to do with the way that they teach. It's time to stop worrying about who is going to be the next BIG football coach, or building the schools bigger and better than Cape, etc. Look at the school district payroll and you will see the problem real quick.

Ha! It has everything to do with the way they teach! I think it's time for you parents to stop being so ungrateful. Be happy that your kids have an education at all!

My daughter goes to West Lane...a few boys in her class talk about porn sites and blow jobs!
Are you kidding me...what is going on???
Today the boys were talking about sperm...
One boy stuck a color down his pants and wanted my daughter to get it out!
Nothing ever gets done, if you complain, and then your a trouble causing parent.
I need help on this one!

My child is a first grader at South. He reads on a second grade level. He does get help at school but he gets a lot of help at home. Education and the love of knowledge happens long before a child goes to school. You reap what you sow...

Omg... That is awful!! How old are these boys that are talking so nasty??
I'm so sorry that your daughter is exposed to such trash talking at school. Teachers should expel students that talk like that!
The problem isn't just with Jackson. It's a global issue. However, Jackson should be addressing this inappropriate behavior. I'm my opinion, tenure needs to go away!! No other job can you work for three years (national average) and have a guaranteed job with benefits! Do you know 1 in every 57 doctors will be fired during their career ONLY 1 in every 2500 teachers will ever get fired!! It's almost impossible to fire a teacher that's hit tenure. I'm sure some, not all, hit tenure and think... I get a pay check whether I teach or not!!

That quote is such a joke. Maybe if they weren't so concerned about classifying these kids at such a young age they wouldn't have such insecurities and there self esteem might be a little higher. There kids let's remember that, then maybe no child would be left behind. And why are the older teachers so afraid of change. Some of these ideas that the new teachers have (just coming out of college) might really be helpful. Let's not be so afraid of letting our kids just be the KIDS they truly are.

Agree agree agree, I worked as an aide years ago and I watched the teachers starting cliques in kindergarten. Four kids at a table. I'll give you three guesses how the tables were set up and the first two don't count. Those kids know at that young age what is
Going on and it hurts them
