Talking of getting married. We've been together 6months, get along very well, enjoy each others company and we think we want to take it to the next level, we are both in our 30's, have children, will be second time for us both and want to do this right. For the long haul, we really need some suggestions and advice on things to do, talk about, and prepare before we are even ready for an engagement. I know this is Topix, I beg you to be nice, Im just hoping for friendly advice.. but hey we are dirty minded also ;)

"Really" maybe I was looking for an outsider view of marrige and what it takes. What my ex thinks of me is about the last opinion I would ever compare myself to, SmH. Apparently you have never had an ex that you had to get away from, lol He is an ex for a reason and it wasnt his choice it was mine... God brought us together for a reason and we want to have a happy life long relationship together..

How many kids? Ages ? There is two considerations.Main considerations.what impact is your and his decisions going to be on them?Did you and he cheat on your former spouses? Like started seeing each other before you or he was divorced? 6 months if you and he are both working is like being with each other 2 months and thats if your living together and not spending any time with your children. After my evaluation.NOT RECOMMENDED AT THIS TIME.Develop into a family first where everybody is ready for the transition not just you and him. There are others involved here.Just a suggestion .No offense intended.Been there done that.Sometimes we have to remind ourselves and each other it's not about us it's about the kids, just a friendly reminder from one parent to another.I'm not questioning your love for your children .Just saying.

We have known each other since the early 90's and graduted high school together and have several mutual friends. We both have been divorced for about 6 years,(did not cheat with each) and Ive dated on and off since my divorce, and never have I meet somene so freakin perfect in everyway. We have spent alot of time together without the children involved what so ever until recently. We are now spending time together as a whole and everyone seems to get along fine. Every choice we have made has included the children and us not wanting anyone feelings to be hurt or confused. We both have two children(7~10 ages) and have homes of our own, personal I dont think people with children should have live in partners without being married due to the example they give them.

We were thinking of at least a 6 month engagement, wasnt like we were going to the court house to get married next week or anything. We are both from loving families and have a very good idea of what marrige is and what a it can be. I was just hoping someone out there has had luck mixing two families together and it working well...
