Please provide me with any information on doctors in Cape who can perform this type surgery and have excellent reviews.
Any advice, input, etc. would be most appreciated.

Never never never use a cape dr for something as intricate as knee replacement. U need dr Paul lux. He is off interstate 40
In St Louis . I had both knees done at the same time and that is the only way to go or u will never do the second one. It is the hardest recovery u will ever go through. U will need to do ankle pumps from the moment u open your eyes in recovery. U most do physical therapy and u will want Andrea (siemer)Marchi she is on main street and she is more important than any surgeon because what
She does for u is your best bet for a full use recovery

Dr. Lux or go to Dr. Leo Whiteside Mo. Bone & Joint Center right off of 270. He's the best. Done my moms hips & knees & had to redo my dads hip that was done down here by Trueblood. Know a lot of people that has had work done in Cape & Dr. Whiteside as had to redo everything.

Never never give this advice. There are many wonderful surgeons in cape! I have worked Many places including top notch city hospitals where your surgeries take two to three times As long because residents are learning. The orthopedic surgeons in the area do a terrific job and it's local no driving to all of your appointments.

After reading the above posts I may delay my knee surgery. Perhaps losing weight might keep the knee pain managable.
When I can no longer tolerate the pain I will definitely consider having both knee's done at once. Info from the above posts has convinced me that going through the surgery twice is not pleasant. So, only one surgery on both knees sounds wise.
Thank you for your valuable input.

Guest, Liberty, Mo, that is great advice. Losing weight until normal or below is the best course of action. Take a look around at all the people who have hip surgery, knee surgery, etc.. They waddle, walk goofy, etc., and all need to lose weight. They just have no idea how much healthier they might be if they lost weight, let alone avoid surgery.

The orthopedic surgeons in cape are great at their practice and outcomes. The only reason an outcome does not turn out well with total knees are bc they are not diligent with postop physical therapy. It takes dedication and no surgery is pain free.
The opinions on the geriatric pts on this post should not be considered in your case 4a decision. They outcomes for someone with older joints n osteoporosis is what it is.
Also take in consideration these "redo" sx as we dont know their baseline health, postop pt done, and technology advancement of prosthesis.

Check around and see how many operations have to be re-done or how many people you can find who had to have re-dos. It is not 100 percent success, people. Do you research. When you see someone who can't walk worth a darn, ask them who did their surgery.

Nonsense. Check with your local lawyer who handles malpractice cases.

My husband just had both knees done in Saint Louis and is doing great!
Dr Solman in S Louis did my husbands surgery and less than two weeks he's walking without a walker. I don't know anything about other Dr. But knees are his specialty, I would recommend him 100% the Hosp in St Louis was awesome! Very different experience then expected. We have therapy and nurses in home twice a week. Wish he had this done years ago. Almost pain free now! Good luck!

That's wonderful news regarding your husband's recovery. I have heard knee surgery is very painful. Good to hear he is doing so well.
Which hospital was your husband in?

Did you feel that Dr. Whiteside is better than Dr. Lux? I have heard good things about both Drs; Dr. Whiteside did my mom's knee and Dr. Lux did my dad's hip. How did your mom like Dr. Whiteside; did she get full rom back and can she straighten her legs?
