I stopped them dead in their tracks by hooking back up my first non-wireless one-line modem.I put that trash in their place. Now they will have to get them a home phone line and a modem to go along with it to get back online on the internet. What a bunch of freeloading scum trash.I bet you miss facebook.Dont you?LMFAO.It sure does not pay to use a wireless modem if you live close to other people with computers. But their game is over now.Ha ha!

If you want to keep your wireless modem here is a site that will help you stop or catch these poachers, like I did.I will never have a wireless modem again.Hope you enjoyed your poaching. Now you will have to find another fool like I WAS to steal service off of.I bet you feel so trashy now that I finally caught you.I know you dont have a home phone line,so dont even try to lie to me and tell me you do.You miss that free internet I bet.LMFAO! http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0%2C2817%2C2320...

I have an open network with no password and I don't care if anyone uses it or not. Doesn't cost me anything if a neighbor wants to use it.

What if these freeloaders download child porn or steal your identity.Your ip address will be the one the law tries to pin it on.

There would be a log on the wireless router of what devices were attached and when. Some routers log by MAC address, some by name of the device. If no device owned by the network's owner downloaded the child porn it wouldn't be an issue. What if someone goes to a motel or a McDonald's and downloads kiddie porn? Those entities aren't responsible.

It's easy enough to put a password on your connection. I don't blame you at all for not wanting someone else to use the service that you pay for. Even if they don't download anything illegal, it probably slows your internet down.

You're right about letting people use your wireless internet, they could post stuff that could get you into trouble. When they're using your wireless internet, they're using your IP address, which you would be responsible for what happens. Also, they could get inside of your computer, getting your personal information, and that could be dangerous.

That's one of the main reasons people shouldn't let others use their wireless internet, they could download child porn, which the law would be all over you, and you wouldn't no the reason why.

You are right Charlie.I finally found out about this freeloading type activity after reading an online article wrote about it.I think the whole U.S.should make it a federal law that if you get caught using someones personal home modem(wireless or non-wireless) without their knowledge or permission, then it will be punishable up to 3 years in federal prison.TRY TAPPING INTO SOMEONES HOME PHONE WIRES AND GET CAUGHT AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS.As far as I am concerned it is the same thing or worse than that. They could get online and commit all kinds of other crimes besides child ponography or identity theft and there it is tied straight to your ip address and the law will knock on your door first and you dont even know what is going on.I am glad I finally figured this out.

I had the same problem it made my sevice really slow when they were using it. It had the default password but if u know what u are doing its not very hard to get past that. It is fairly easy to make your wireless system more secure. First make your network invisible. You can do this in the router settings. Name it something only u know then when accessing your network you will have to type the name in instead of it showing up on your wirless device. Then make a password for it again somthing only u know. U can also see who accessed your network in the router security logs it tells u what time and what computer or device has accessed your network. There are many other things u can do to make your system more secure.
Well ok

I have three different wireless devices and inthe router security log it shows me which one and what time every time my network is accessed and each one has its own ip address so i dont know what u all mean by using your ip address every device has its own and they are all different. Allthough they may be similar there is a slight difference in the numbers and anyone can tell if it was your computer or device that committed a crime so im not sure what u all mean . every device has its own ip address. If Its not yours then law enforcement will be able to tell the difference

That's why I don't let others, except my family use my wireless internet. It's dangerous to let just anyone, even if you know them use your wireless internet connection, one reason, unless you trust them completely, they can cause you a lot of grief.

If anyone uses your wireless internet, and they download child porn, or do any crimes using your internet connection, you'll be in big trouble. Unless you and the law enforcement are working together, to catch these people, you'll have a lot of explaining to do. That's why use powerful passwords on your computer, so no one can excess your internet connection, and get into your computer. Never use your birthday [family members birthdays], your name [family members names], pet's names, or any name that connects to you. Always, when making passwords, use numbers and symbols along with the passwords.

If someone uses your wifi, YOU will not get in any trouble if they do anything bad. It gets tracked to their computer & not yours.
