What is your opinion of preachers/ministers being paid to preach?

i dont really know, i dont like the idea of someone making money off of god, i was at the wooly worm and the preaching was amazing till i heard the preacher say to the crowd, throw some 100's on stage gods needs your money, my mouth just droped, i was shocked at the way he said that. i realize everyone has to make a living and its not cheap to run around preaching and singing, but why cant they say donate your money to the church, help us spread the word of god, ya know, thats was just wrong to say...i walked away, god dont need our money.

I think anyone who truly is called to preach the word of god, will not asked to be payed to do his work, because God his self will pay any one who does his work truly, in his own way. And God knows what we need more then we do. Some people my need love more then money, and in that case a support check would not help at all, but God can give Love, Money, true friendship, anything, alot more then what money can buy. And i belive that if a preacher needs money to survive, pay bills, etc. then i belive if they put there trust in God and not the support check, then God will make a way for the bills to get paid, and keep food on the table. im not a preacher but i have seen hard times, i work for a living and sometimes i wounder if im going to have the money to make it from week to week, but My God always makes a way for me. And the harder i work for him and the better i live, the more he blesses me with.

I agree with you. God owns it all. He won't have His children beg for bread. God will take care of His children, He'll provide a way for them. Man can't serve God and mammon (money).

Paul said he personally did not want money for doing the work of the Lord because there was money coming in to support his travels. Although it does state that if someone is doing full time work and by this i mean not only preaching but the duties of heading a church that comes with a full load of hours a week and therefore a man has no other employment cause the workload is taking his time he has to be compensated to support himself. Therefore I truely believe its a case by case situation. If you are working full time in the ministery you need to live and we need to provide for the head of the flock. We do not have to see that the head is driving a Rolls Royce and living in a 20 million dollar mansion. The Bible tells of to take care of our own!!!

the bible says that the lord takes care of the people that do his work thats what it says

the government permits churches to give pastors houseing allownce! Now Evangaslists usually get an amount of money when they travel for gas..people walk up and give it to them. We at my church do not pay them...we bless them with what offering is took up that night. My uncle used to travel and preach and my mom sings with him and some churchs would give us a love gift, and some wouldn't. Now the people who demand 1,000 dollars before they will even grace your churchs doors are not of God, UNLESS, they are onn t.v. Like Tommy Bates, T.D. Jakes, Paul Crouch, etc. Those people i could understand cause well they are famous!

Once upon a time, there was a man of very great faith. A great rain fell upon the land and water started rising quickly. About the time water was up to the preacher's knees a national guard came by in a Humvee. He said "get in preacher, I'll save you"! The preacher replied, "go on my son. The Lord will save me". The water continued to rise to the preacher's chest. About that time a man in a boat came along. He said "get in preacher. I'll save you". Again, the preacher said "go on my son. The Lord will save me". The water continued to rise and was up to the preacher's chin. A National Guard helicopter flew over and said "grab this rope and we'll pull you to safety". Again the preacher said "go on my son. The Lord will save me". A few minutes later the preacher drown and went to Heaven. Upon meeting the Lord, the preacher asked "Lord, why did you not save me during this terrible flood"? and the Lord said, "Preacher, I sent you a Hummer, a boat, and a helicopter. What were you waiting for"?
