I have also watched alot of great ball players at jackson city I have been a big fan since 75. and the best ones I think has ever came out of jackson city were donnie shaw and josh sewell. Ray david, mike salyers, and kyle howard couldn't hold a light to those 2 boys. they could out play anybody that has ever came out of jackson city.
Yeah they graduated a few years after I did. Great ball players. Didnt they both go on to play college ball?

I watched Ray David back in the 60's and Mike in the early 80's and these 2 r by far the 2 best to play at Jackson. Now K. Howard was a good player in the top 5 at JHS but not the top 2. I've seen them all and JC is not in the top 5 bout all he could do was jump. The year that howard and fugate played it was the weakest that I had ever seen the 14th region. By the way what did that team lose about 10 games. Noway is this the best team either. Now you younger guys can talk all you want but I watch jackson since the early 60's.
I watched Mike Salyers and Ray David both play Ray was pretty good, Mike Salyers was very slow and was one of the worst players to ever play in the region that I have ever seen that was supposed to be good and was not. His moves down low was slow and could not even get his shot off most of the time, and his outside shot was terrible. Mike Salyers would not even be in top 100 players at Jackson. Kyle Howard best player by far to ever play at Jackson followed by J.C. Lucas and Ray Phippis.

Ray David was a good player, and so was Howard but the best was Salyers. In the 50 yrs i've been watching he could do anything that his coach ask him to do play inside, outside score when they needed a basket now u can talk and say anything you want but Mike was one of the best if not the best at JCS and in my opinion in the top 10 in the region. He was a second team all state player and no player has ever been that from Jackson. All time leading scorer and rebounder and how can you say he wasn't any good. He sign to play ball at Austin Peay College don't know what really happen but I do know he sign. A lot of people don't like him but he was a good ball player. He along with Jeff Phipps was a great combination. Ray Phipps didn't even start on these teams when he played. It was John Ritchie,Mike Salyers,Bill Back,Ricky Moore, Jeff Phipps this was the starting five on the best that ever played at JCS. That's the fact because I know!

I agree with Old School and Tiger 95 that Donnie Shaw and Josh Sewell are the best. I played with those guys and nobody could stop them. They both went on to play college ball. How many others can say that?
