Kentucky State Police say two people have been killed in an all-terrain vehicle crash in eastern Kentucky. Another person, who wasn't involved in the crash, has been critically hurt as a result of it.
A news release from the KSP post in Hazard states the crash occurred late Monday on Highway 28 in the Morris Fork community of Breathitt County.

Trooper Tony Watts, a spokesman for the post, said Randell Turner of Booneville was driving the ATV when he lost control and struck a utility pole. The crash killed a passenger, Samuel Riley of Buckhorn.

The release stated Turner then touched a fallen power line and died after being taken to a hospital.

Kelly Stamper of Booneville also was shocked by the downed power line and he was listed in critical condition at Kentucky River Medical Center in Jackson.

HERE WE GO AGAIN!!! HOW MANY MORE PEOPLE ARE GOING TO HAVE TO BE KILLED AND MAIMED BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE TO STOP THIS INSANITY?

Two more people dead and another in critical condition, because these morons chose to operate their ATV on the highway ILLEGALLY!

From WKYT News:

"ATV crash kills 2, injures 1

Two people were killed on an ATV. A third person was shocked by downed power lines.

An ATV crash has killed two people and injured a third.

The wreck happened late Monday night in the Morris Fork community of Breathitt County.

Kentucky State Police say Randall Turner of Booneville lost control of his ATV on Highway 28 and hit a utility pole.

Turner died, as well as a passenger, Samuel Riley.

Kelly Stamper was not involved in the crash but came into contact with the downed power lines and was shocked.

Stamper was taken to the hospital, where at last check he was listed in critical condition."

The only solution to this problem is to license and insure them and make them highway suitable. They run when the cops try to stop them and when they wreck and hurt their dumbass they turn around and sue the cops. When it hits in the pocketbook things will change.

If they don't obey the law now and keep the things off the road, what makes you think they would obey a law to license and insure them?

The news report said he "lost control of his ATV on Highway 28 and hit a utility pole". That sounds like on the main highway to me.

So now we have three more lives wasted because someone was too ignorant to just OBEY THE DAMN LAW!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with 45ACP. These things do not need to be operated on the highways. I hear so many people talk about how dangerous atv's are, but it's not the atv's, it's the drivers. I don't know the details in this particular case and am blaming no one in this accident, but in MOST cases of fatalities the drivers are drunk, riding on the highway, trying to climb a cliff, or going way too fast. In many cases it's all of the above.

ATV's can be safe and fun but you have to use common sense.

there's a reason they called it an ACCIDENT..instead of calling ppl dumbasses when u dont know the details of the situation why not give them and their families the benefit of the doubt and just pray for them all.no matter the reason it's a sad time for all of them and there is such a thing as respect for the deceased...Sam has 2 beautiful daughters and 2 beautiful grandaughters who are going to miss him terribly as will the rest of his family and i sure hope they dont come across these disrespectful little comments...Sam and Randy(who are related) will be missed by all who knew them. their families and friends are going thru a tough enough time so please show them a little compassion.

Don't call people's beloved deceased family members morons...have you no respect or integrity? Tell me your mother did teach you better than that...I'm sure you have never done anything illegal or dangerous...you probably haven't even smoked a cigarette or had sex unprotected have you? How dare you come on here calling people morons...who are you to judge? I'm just sayin' think before you let words come out your mouth...people are mourning and grieving. Choose your words wisely my friend for it may be your beloved one who would be deemed a moron next. Think about that.

Instead of waiting until someone dies after they have had an accident on one of these things then why not start a topic discussing them instead of going on a post and calling someones loved one ignorant.. No that is true ignorance of someone to do that.. You ppl are pathetic. Start a rally about it don't get on here calling ppls loved ones morons that just shows your stupidity.. 45 acp you may think that that makes you look like you know something and are intelligent, but if ppl knew whio you were you wouldn't have a single person that really liked you. PLEASE STOP OUT OF RESPECT FOR ALL FAMILIES INVOVLED!!!!
