Last time I drove through town riff raff still on the streets, poker games all over town and looks as trashy as ever. You can dress up the windows of empty buildings but guess what....they're still empty because no legit business wants to locate in an area where people are scuzzy, lack education and allow clannish politicians to stay in control.

If you want tourism to come to Breathitt, first you have to combat the drug problem, and then make it wet. Where there's tourism, there's bars, hotels & motels, and dance halls, and to get these, it has to become wet.

She have the streets salted either.

I haven't seen the splash park yet! And those antique light poles sure don't hide the trash on the bridge or any of the drug problems that are here. Get a life and realize the money she spent trying to beautify this town would have been better spent trying to fight the crime here!

Those lights were paid for with money from the hotel motel restaurant tax and the splash park was paid for with money from the new tax. I thought the old debt was suppose to be paid on with the new tax?

Now you people get a life. Old Rose Wolf is doing a fine job running this city. The street signs look beautiful. She is providing us with that new ambulance service you all been waiting for because you don't like the current ambulances. So lay down and suck up Rose might give you all a tit. But if you can beat her then run against her next time. HAHAHA

I agree. To have tourism any where, there has to be a reason for tourist to stop, shop and or party. No tourist is going to stop in a place where there's nothing to do, no Holiday Inns, no theme parks, Cracker Barrels or Applebees, well, I think you all get the point. Look at Perry County, every hotel or motel sales alcohol, I think most of all the restaurants sales alcohol, and also there's a Super Walmart. These places wouldn't be there if they couldn't sale alcohol. Like I said on another thread, Jackson and Breathitt has to start playing catch-up, or they're going to be left behind. Most people don't know this, but Jackson is slowly dying, because there's no jobs, no tourism, and no new businesses starting up. Look at Fugates {place where you can watch movies, bowling, etc.]in Perry County. Can you imagine how much money travels from Breathitt to that business in a year's time? We could have a place like that here in Breathitt, but you have to have alcohols sales to draw tourism in, because tourist aren't going to spend their money some wheres, where they can't have fun [can you blame them?]. You all do the math.

I think Rose is a great person, a matter of fact, if it hadn't been for Rose, my family wouldn't have gotten water back to our home. But, even Rose will agree with me, Breathitt and Jackson [the city] needs to grow, and to grow, more businesses and jobs have to be created. I believe Breathitt has to become wet for this to happen, because there's more money going out of Breathitt, than coming in. I know there's people [especially church going people] who are against the county going wet, and people say they don't want alcohol in Breathitt. There's one thing they're not realizing, Breathitt is already wet, it's just not legal yet. If Breathitt were wet, the money that would go out of our county for alcohol, would stay in our county. More money stays in Breathitt, the more jobs that will start up [hotels and motels-more restaurants will start up, even a Super Walmart might come in here [probably centered between Campton and Jackson], thus keeping most of our young people here.

People flee Breathitt County not intentionally travel there. Trash, abused animals, pill heads, and sewer smell are not tourist attractions. If you have tourists, you need legal alcohol sales that is a known fact.
why don't you move away if it's that bad?
