You're in the band and can't even spell INSTRUMENT correctly. Wow.
And honestly, our band sucks. They play the same 3 songs over & over again. They wear those raggedy michael Jackson shirts to every game and half the time they just stand there, look dumb and act like idiots. I have heard some of the girls in band, on numerous occasions, screaming and goofing off. It looked very unprofessional and was actually embarrassing.
If you all want money, 1) do some fund raisers of your own. And 2) learn some good songs, and learn how to play said songs properly without making half the crowd want to plug their ears.
Don't forget they are wh*res that have sex in the band closets etc. after all their shindigs they have. I hate the band geeks, just my opinion. Get a life whiney kid that started this thread.

It honestly comes down to the fact that the sports programs bring in money. People come to watch the games, not listen to the band play. Just honest facts. Not many would come to some music recital expect for family members. Just the way it is and it wont change.
the band can bring funding in as well if they win competitions which they can't without proper instruments and equipment, and I know of several people that are not band parents that come to ball games to watch and listen to the band as well as watch the football game.

In all fairness wrote:
has the band not gotten the money for years from concessions except for this year? During that time why was uniforms not bought & other items that were needed. And to be fair the way I understand the concession monies work this year is that the students and family of each organization puts forth the effort to work the concession during all games and the money is distributed among that group that works. And correct me if I am wrong, but did the band decide to NOT work any concessions since they wouldn't get all the money? And from what I also understand ROTC is finally getting a cut this year and are so happy for it and many of them & their families were waiting in line to help. IMO the ROTC is just as important as band, or maybe even more, and for the first time they are helping and getting some funds. So if the band wants to make some money then let them go work for it like they all are doing & stop being greedy....go concessions!!
The band has tried fundraiser a and other things but to buy fundraiser stuff you have to have money which they don't have because the concession stand was taken from them, the band bought the new ice machine that is in the concession stand and probably several other things while I was still in band so don't say that they haven't tried to help themselves because they have arch turner just wouldn't help too. And ROTC is not more important than the band if anything they are equal.

Band is a great activity. Congrats for standing up for it! Advice; get parents to form a booster club fundraisers ideas: fruit at XMAS motorcyle shows or rides make students repsonsible for some things such as inexpensive tees. Start pushing the idea of competive marching band to bring some pride to your program ,let the county see how good you are. Compete this fall in your class with KMEA. Watch other good bands in your class and get ideas. Follow DCI Drum corp great show in Lousville this summer band should go and get some ideas. Above all keep believing in yourself and the music! Good luck! i remember Breathiit used to host a contest host oncecheck with KMEA good money there. Best of luck!

Look. I support ROTC, I support the football team, but I agree with the general idea of this topic. What if someone wants to do something with their talents after high school. If ROTC Didn't have an idea of what their basic training would be like because they didn't have the equipment to prepare themselves. If the football team couldn't get their hands on a ball, how would they play a game? If these band kids don't want to put up with the crap they are put through, just so they can learn and become talented, successful, respected musicians, they shouldn't have to. If ROTC thinks we're a bunch of slackers who can't get our craft together. They're absolutely right. But the reason behind it is what we have compared to what we need in order to be a decent high school band. I salute whoever can take what we have now, and turn it into what everyone wishes we could be. I invite any football player or ROTC member to come up and do that. I have respect for all, but as a band member, I don't think I've been shown respect in return. I give thanks to the crew that came with halfway to hazard. A charity event that has helped us something great. I do want the band to prove that we deserve such treatment. I have no room to talk on the area of self discipline, but that's what I'd like to see.
