It is if you try at it. If someone truly wants help, it's a wonderful program but if they are only doing it to get out of jail, then they'll end up right back in there.

You are right, it is a great program for those who really want in to get help. The problem is that most of those who want in, just want in to keep their trashy azzes out of jail.

Drug Court is just a get out if jail free card. Noone can make you help yourself. You have to want to straighten up and improve your life. There is no JUDGE that can make you do it. But it is a good political game when the election comes around and it does provide a few jobs for whatever that is worth.

Truth of the matter is we need to have Joe Arpaio over the correction system. He has some great ideas. Like the tent city, no television, and chain gangs. I think that all prisoners should only have the basics, and that doesn't include television, radio etc...I think they only thing they should be allowed to do is attend classes on drug and mental health issues, GED classes etc...Things to enrich thier minds. If they didn't have anything else to do, they would attend those classes real quick. I would like to think they might just might learn something simply because they didn't have a choice. Prison and jails have now become Hotel California.

I agree that repeat offenders. Should have all of the work details and everything put on them but let me assure you all the people in the jails are not bad people anyone of us could be there. Take for instance you getting a speeding ticket marked you have to appear in court. At 2am your child is rushed to Lex hospital you are tore up and forget to call the Clerk and do not go 2 court. Guess what you have a bench warrant issued and you ail go to jail. You will be there until you post bond and most likely until the next court date. So does that make you a low life scum as you consider the people in jail. We need 2 stop and think before we judge.
no it does not

Let me assure you, I have gotten a speeding ticket in the past. I called the county attorney of the county that I recieved it to take care of it long before a court date. But if you do get a bench warrant for something so minor, you will be out in a matter of hours..
I think the very first time someone gets into trouble and that includes teens and pre teens they need something more than what they get now.
Teens and preteens and everyone else that breaks the law need a strict atmosphere that does not include things such as television, radio or games etc...If they have everything stripped away, and only given wholesome choices such as classes on mental health and substance abuse they will be less likely to be repeat offenders. Look at other countries. Those that have harsher systems than we do don't have as many repeat offenders. Today, jail and prison has become a place to rest and get all your needs taken care of. Free food, medical, and housing. The only thing they have taken is thier freedom and most don't care about that or if they did they wouldn't be repeat offenders would they?

It's a great program only if people really want to quit drugs. No program that could ever be started will help people that are on drugs unless they want to quit. That's like smoking, unless the person really want to quit, no smoking aid could help them unless they want to quit smoking. There has to be a strong will to quit anything and change their life style.
