I hate the breathitt county school sysytem! It is so fucked up ! Nothing makes any sense at all and i do believe the school boared, and whoever else is involved in it has no fucking clue what there doing ! Its so stupid that freshman have to stay back at a middle school with middle school kids when they graduated from that school and are in highschool now ! Its beyond unfair. And what i've heard its all becuase of gay ass football! People get a brain. Life doesn't revolve around fricken sports. School is suppose to give you an education but instead all brathitt worries about is sports !!! Its a terrible school sysytem. Half the teachers act like they don't know left from right! and all anyone cares about is if everyone comes to school for a certain amount of time everyday just so they can make money off each student. And the students aren't treated equal or fair , if theres a student who has little more money than another one or if there parents are supposibly a big shot that student will get treated great while other students the oppisite of that get treated like shit and unfairly. Oneday these snoby braty ass kids will find out how the real world is and then they'll be the ones getting treated like shit ! School has became nothing but a huge joke. its all about money, sports and if your claimed to be someone. No wonder all the other countys make fun of everyone here , i don't blame them . Its all a pathetic mess. Some students wanna come to school to get an education and not have a care about sports ! And alot of students wanted to go on to the the highschool were there suppose to be but didn't get to becuase of sports !!!!

Get your facts straight...khsaa will tell you it does NOT matter where 9th graders are housed, they are still included in the enrollment for class...so, obviously it wasn't done for football (in fact, I'd say holcomb would rather have the 9th graders at bhs for 7th period conditioning). It was done because in general 9th graders are missing too much school, failing, and dropping out and it is a measure that BCS can use to show the state they are trying to improve these things by having the 9th graders in a smaller school setting. And, btw, 8th grade graduation is not really a graduation. It is not recognized anywhere as a formal graduation; it means nothing. And I graduated BHS, my family didn't have any pull or much money or a good last name, and I didn't play sports. I am still educated and I now have a masters degree. So, I don't buy your post at all.

Good post & I agree!!!!! Too many jealous people are always ready to attack Holcomb & sports. If they had a clue what all this man does for all these kids they would lay off him & find something good to say for a change. Most all of his former (even from the beginning teams) players come see him often & many of them even help him coach. He has got many of them to stay in school that allowed them to graduate because of football when otherwise they would have been a dropout. People that have no idea what its all about always have a negative comment to make. And their ignorance usually shows through.

Breathitt High School could go a long way toward improving its education system. I, too, went to school here, and when I went away to college, I got a rude awakening. I was so ill-prepared that it was an embarassment, but I knew I had to work harder to get where I wanted to end up. Some of all of these posts are true, but I don't think ranting and raving about it on here solves the problem. How do we get the people in Breathitt County to value education? As for Holcomb, he does an excellent job at what he does, and as far as the freshmen being moved for football purposes, that is not true. The number of male students in the 10th, 11th and 12th grades is what your football division is based on, not the 9th.

Graduating (recognized or not) and going on the highschool is a right of passage for these kids. A once in a life-time event. This was so wrong and I have never heard of it anywhere else. My child refers to herself as a 9th grader rather than a freshman. The most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Dont know if Arch is going to jail or not but would be satisfied if he went anywhere but back to the board of education building. What a joke.

and they are still a freshman. It should not matter where you are placed as a freshman because next year they will enter the high school. Sometimes unpopular things have to happen for many reasons that most do not understand. With state assistance cut back its hard on all schools right now so we all have to do our part in order to survive. It is not asking much. If this trial does not work out then next year it will change back. The above post by Emily is a true statement & this move was not made for sports. But I think it was made to save jobs and money.

This was so wrong and I have never heard of it anywhere else.

It's actually common...just off the top of my head I know scott co. high just has 10-12. And research says many schools where 9th graders are failing are housing them at a different location..they are calling it a freshman academy. Many 9th graders aren't ready to be in high school...and come to think about it i wouldn't want my 13 yr old (yes she will be 13 at the beginning of her 9th grade year) to be in a high school with a 19 yr old senior (and there are a couple that i know of that are already 19 at bhs)

Well woopty doo! like i care , ofcourse i'm not goin to have any of that i've not graduated highschool yet. " Whoa you need to get a life " instead of being stuck up on what you do for a living , that has nothing to do with the school system and me saying to get a clue ...honey psychology couldn't help anything or anyone on this subject ...seriously get a freakin clue and life .
