Along also came an increase in TB cases, increase in costs of educating the children of these illegal aliens, increase in providing public health benefits. All the while, American citizens and college students struggling to make it in NYC are subsidizing these costs and benefits for illegal aliens. Is that fair? Illegal aliens open businesses yet a law-abiding American citizen trying to apply for an SBA loan has to go through bureaucratic nightmares to obtain such? What gives?

I just find it unfortunate that they have to come to NYC. I would rather prefer for Mexicans to migrate to California or Texas like many of them are ding right now and to leave NY alone. We have good relationships with Puerto Ricans and Dominicans. I believe that once Mexicans start establishing themselves, many more will follow and this will possibly mean many more illegals in the country as well as in the city. We don`t need that in NYC!

I tend to agree. I wish they would stay over on the west coast side mainly because I don't want all of that gang warfare to follow. We have enough problems in NYC as it is not to mention gangs but the gangs seem to be more underground and judging from what I've read about gangs in California, that won't be the case if they all find themselves over here. Not to mention all the illegal migration. I keep knocking my head against a wall trying to figure out why the our government hasn't stepped up to the plate and taken a hard stance on this issue. Don't tell me because mexicans do the work the citizens and legal residents won't. It has got to be more to it than that. No one else is allowed to slip into the country as easily as the mexicans have. Why can't they wait their turn like everyone else trying to enter the U.S.? There are tons of people ahead of them waiting to come in and they manage to cross the border illegal and have the nerve to ask for rights. Other than basic human rights, they should be entitled to nothing. In general, one shouldn't be rewarded for breaking the law, extenuating circumstances aside.

I don't speak of anyone else but I am well aware of the history mentioned. The fact is there has always been wars fought for lands. Today's law is what it is and right is right. If the mexicans want to enter the country let them do it by legal means and if I go by the argument that a large part of the south west and west use to belong to Mexico does that mean we can keep them out of New York? Let the mexicans follow the rules and wait their turn like everyone else. Stop jumping the line and sneaking over and expect the same rights as everyone who was born or migrated here legally.

It seem odd that people all this country and over the world are concern about Mexicans making their homes in NYC.

The only people who are not concern are the ones who actually live in NYC. Mayor Bloomberg now and former mayor Giuliani were never concerned nor New Yorkers ever.

NYC is the safest big city in the US. NYC now has an amazing budget surlus close to 5 billion.

Living in the heart of the city for many years, I've never heard of or seen associated problems such as TB or crime committed by Mexicans. If anything we see them as positives.

You mean two rich white men who live in houses with large fences and are protected by armed NYPD?

REALLY. Well you may be living under a rock. Speaking as a minority, I know that there have been problems in East Harlem between the Mexicans and other Latinos and maybe you are not aware but there is a gang out called MS-13 and they only take kindly to their kind. They are about 100,000 strong and the government is looking into them. They have randomly murdered people standing at bus stops, they have broken in to innocent victims homes and shot them dead for living in areas that they have marked as their territory and there is more to the execution style killings of those three college students in Newark than most of the public realizes, so yes, I am concerned. I am concerned that more trouble will come to NY than needed. There are already enough problems as it is. I am for any law abiding citizen or legal resident moving to New York as long as they are positively contributing to society. I am worried about SOME who may not be accustomed to following rules or who don't care to. We need not one more, again, we already have enough.

The points I was making concerns Mexicans in NYC.

The crimes you're referring to are neither committed by Mexicans nor did those crimes happened in NYC.

Is East Harlem not in NY. The point I've made and quite clearly, I believe, is if the mexicans are migrating legally and they are law abiding citizens and or residents, fine. My concern is for any trouble that may follow once this already crowded city with various ethnicities and cultures become even more crowded, with the large amount of mexicans that are bound to come. I also have concerns about the problems that may arise within the latino community specifically, and their more general integration with NY.

If you would allow me to allay your fears for a second. According to the article on top of this thread, in 1990--there were 62,000 Mexicans and now there are 400,000 Mexicans(most likely a lot more).

Arguably, NYC has become better and better and remained one of the greatest cities of the world if not the greatest, while at the same time Mexican population has dramatically increased.

There are almost zero ethnic conflict, Queens led NYC in decrease in crime and has the most concentration of immigrants.

There were never any Mexicans in NYS or NYC so spare us your guilt trips.

Now Native Americans on the other hand, thats a whole 'nother story, but they are getting their revenge here in New York through their casinos.

As i see it, latins are spread out into different areas of this country and i feel that if any one group invavdes the others, its gonna be war.

Florida = Cubans
NYC = Boriqua and Dominicans
Cali & Tex = Mexicans

This is precisely what I meant when I asked, so by the particular poster's logic does that mean that we don't have to worry about thousands of mexicans coming to New York, since the poster in essence stated the mexicans were simply taking back land in the west and southwest that originally belonged to them.

Again, I ask why would people (anyone) come to the U.S. illegally (the exception for me are those who seek political asylum and that is to be determined)and expect to have the same rights as citizens and legal residents? Why do I see people who are here ILLEGALLY fighting for rights on CNN? What makes mexicans (since they are currently the issue) or any other immigrant think they can come here work for 10 years illegally and all of the sudden start screaming about rights. The system doesn't work that way or at least it shouldn't but there seems to be a big glich.

Your points are absolutely correct concerning illegal immigrants. However, Mexicans are an exception.

To illustrate the point--There was an another article concerning illegal Mexicans coming to the US.

A Queens bakery hired a Mexican but on the appointed date, he was a no show. After the owner was finally able to contact the Mexican, the Mexican explained to him "I was caught and deported. But don't worry, I'll try again in a couple of days."

This paints a rosy picture which would be fine except for the fact that these people are illegal aliens. They should not be permitted into our country unless they are legal, can speak our language and want to become Americans. Not just people who want the benefits of America without everything that comes along with it, patriotism and adherence to our laws.

The Immigration Laws changed in this country changed for the worse as soon as it was no longer the white skinned Europeans doing the immigrating.
And FYI: Less than 50% of so-called "illegal aliens" are even from Mexico. Many are from Europe and other places around the world.
But its too late anyway. "Whites" are now the minority group in most major cities in the United States and are now also the official minority group in the States of California and Texas.
As Dylan said: "The Times They Are A Changing"!
You attitude about taking back part of this country is precisely why we do not want the illegal aliens here.

This land was acquired through force and if the tables were turned and the Mexicans won, things would be different. We won and that is the end of it.

Mexico does not care about its people and why don't you change that. No you run away like a coward and come here and then bite the hand that feeds you. So No we do not want you!!!

great now my white kid can finally get a good education at a cheap price.
cant wait till Whites are no longer the majority, we'll finally be in on the affirmative action scam.

It'll be my lil white get with a 75 average, getting into Harvard over your kid with a 90 average.

Yet you'll no longer be able to cry "racism" at every turn..

If 50% of the illegals arent from mexico, why is the mexican flag always flying at the protests?

didnt see to many french flags, what did I miss?

It's not about painting a rosy picture, it's an actual reality regarding the benigh effects of Mexicans in NYC.

Mayor Bloomberg credits (in part) Mexicans for low crime rate and thriving economy in NYC.

"Boy, let them come." He said.

why don't you go back they are illegally and we have to foot the bill for health care and school when someone is here legally they pay into the system and are a wellcomed part of our society why should they have more rights then we do just come here legally pay taxes like we do and stop your bellyaching when our ancestors came they waited their turn learned to speak the language and never asked for any handouts- any where you go now there are two sign one in english and one in spanish - my family came from italy there were no signs in their language they had to learn english to survive and work why should the Mexicans be any different. or maybe its because they are just stupid like you

when I moved back to queens 10 years ago from living in Arizona for the past 14 years. I was shocked to see them standing on the street corners waiting to be picked up to work on someone's lawn on the island. I found it disgusting when I would come home from work to find them drunk and passed out on the sidewalk. And of course the cops did nothing except flash their lights and they would scatter. New York needs to grow some balls and get tough on illegals, especially Mexicans. The good thing I can say about Arizona is that the Govenor passed a law that went into effect fining business large and small who knowingly hire illegalls and when caught, the employees will be terminated and deported.
