I wonder how JW would feel if another religon came to their home on the memorial night to talk with them about another religons beliefs or when they just get home from an assembly or have a jw party in their home. I can tell you they would think the person at the door was rude.

Want to go door to door fine don't do it on a day when people are having family time for an event that is personal to them. Just because it is not something a jW would celebrate does not mean they have the right to be rude imo.Jw have a self intitlement issues when it comes to other peoples holidays. I don't celebrate thanksgiving I do however get to see my kids home on this holiday and don't want to deal with anyone talking anything on my family time.

Jehovah's witnesses don't stop others from celebrating holidays, and don't tell their Bible studies not to celebrate, that is a personal decision to obey the Bibles direction to be no part of this world, such as the world holidays and religious doctrines such as Trinity, Immortal Soul, Hellfire punishment, Rapture, Purgatory and Heaven reward for righteous mankind.

(John 17:15-18). . .“I request you, not to take them out of the world, but to watch over them because of the wicked one. 16 They are no part of the world, just as I am no part of the world. 17 Sanctify them by means of the truth; your word is truth.

(2 Corinthians 6:14-18) 14 Do not become unevenly yoked with unbelievers. For what fellowship do righteousness and lawlessness have? Or what sharing does light have with darkness?

17 “‘Therefore get out from among them, and separate yourselves,’ says Jehovah,‘and quit touching the unclean thing’”; “‘and I will take YOU in.’” 18 “‘And I shall be a father to YOU, and YOU will be sons and daughters to me,’ says Jehovah the Almighty.”

Well who says JW are trying to convert trust me the guy your talkin too shuts the door and says " can you believe that, how rude of them to interupt our special day"

Hey clueless one your comming to someones door on a day that they celebrate something that is close to them. Use your common sense and come the next day. You act like your self intitled to show up on thanksgiving xmas ect every year.

Maybe others should wage a "Save the JW Day" on the memorial night every year and really push you to talk and delay your getting to your special event just to give you a tast of how you look when comming to their doors. Imagine your on your way out the door but no someones come a knockin knowing it's your special occasion every year.

Somehow with JW the social grace goes right out the window. Zero common sense, zero respect for others, zero grace imo.

Yes perhaps you should not become unevenly yoked so go report to your "elders" about how helpful you have been on this site. I'm sure they will chat you up in a back room:)Your such a fine self righteous wittness.

In all fairness I know over here in my neck of the woods...days that were spent for family gatherings, even if we didn't celebrate them like Christmas...were respected, not the day, but the family..They did not go out on the doors, allowing for private family gatherings, and also using the time to witness to family and aquitances...

After all we are to be discreet...perhaps in America discreetness is missing, but it wasn't here.

So true Lise :) We got a knock on the door and looked out the peep hole to see it was an elder we are not to fond of... we continued with what we were doing without skipping a beat. I have to admit it's kind of funny they expect us to stop our fun to listen to what they want to say?? Why would we do that? I treat them just like I do the annoying telemarketers...Ignore!! Unless of course it's one of the very few I respect. Then I offer them a drink and kindly inform them I have zero interest in the religion.

brilliant post, that is something I wont do, never go to peoples homes on their days, I do know of a few JW that don't do this, but many do and I agree it is very rude and does not good but bring more trouble for them, I do call that extremism.

I get annoyed when tele marketing folk aways phone at meal times, its bad manners, I am sure most JW find that rude.

Do unto others!

I give Jehova's Witnesses a polite 'No Thank You' whenever they come to my door. No time wasted whether I am just relaxing, having dinner or entertaining guests.

I belong to the New Apostolic Church in Uniondale, which I find very inspiring and fruitful. There is a loving congregation in every one of its churches around the country.

some jws will even explain how the "real" thanksgiving dinner was all about celebrating the massacering of the indians.... they even have literature about it.

if you try to tell them thats not at all what people are celebrating today, they claim its the origin of it, and so its wicked.
........ yet if you point out to them that russel and rutherford spent their whole life calling all of maninstream christianity names while claiming jesus returned in 1874-1878, then they claim none of that matters, its in the past.

meanwhile, they buy the turkey, or even go to the "get one free" places at a church drive or something, and then have the exact same gathering a day later!!!!!

lets all have a good laugh now!!!...HAHAHHAHAHAHA!!!!.... heeee heeee heeee.

i wonder if they know that they are hypocrites, beating their fellow slaves.

And that isn't even the origin. They have to vilify it.

Whoever doesn't want to speak to JW's.

Just don't answetr the door, ot of you do. Tell thm you are not intrested. It's that simple.

No need for you to go through changes.

They will just move onto another home. Perhaps the next one will express intrest.
