I'm new to the city, but so far my impressions of the NYPD are that these folks are pretty much: flunkies, losers and rejects.

The white cops seem to be especially stupid. Guess they couldn't get jobs at Walmart where the usual unskilled white labor goes.

The black and latino cops, well, they just look downright frightening.

Also, I love how you folks are just throwing your money away by having these flunkies looking in the bags of old ladies as they try to enter the subway system. Wow, Bloomberg is a financial genius. The old ladies will let you look in their bags, the terrorists (God forbid) will just walk through another entrance. A city of brilliant people.

OK, now that you got me started. What about these fat-ass cops on Wall Street with the big semi-automatic guns. Please don't tell me those fat-asses actually have bullets in those things? Can't you treat them the way Andy treated Barney and let them carry the guns around but without any bullets? Damn, I'm afraid they'll shoot each other if they actually have to use those things

Booze. Drugs. Sex toys. It's not your typical Disney scene; it's Gay Days at Disney World.
But the overt “adult” nature of Gay Days didn't keep Time magazine from portraying the event as a chance for gay couples to experience Disney World-style family time. Reporter John Cloud wrote that the event was simply “a way to emphasize that many gays just want to ride a roller coaster with their partner like any other couple.”
Cloud profiled a lesbian couple with three kids excited to be taking in the “typical Disney scene.” He later noted that the family stayed away from the affiliated “business expo,” which featured “huge displays for companies that sell pornography, sex toys and lubricants.” Some other booths offered free vaccinations for hepatitis A and B and testing services for HIV.
More scum running wild and out of control?

No wonder things are so freaked up in this country.

So why don't you take the test and go through the academy and then show us how to do our jobs? It's real easy making statements and observations from the comfort and safety of your computer chair (Which I provide for you).

They hire from a walk-in test. They get paid nothing compared to professional LEO's in the counties. They're trash.

The past five classes have not been stellar. To trash a whole force in general is out of line. If you look in any profession you will see a drop in talent and performance. Still our job is not a glamorous one by far, but we are out there 24/7-365. We are there in the places most people don't want to go.We eyeball the seedy side of this city that I would not want most people to view.

The fact that there are so many long island and Westchester based NYPD officers baffles my mind. The efforts to train and educate city residents is poor to say the least

Slightly off topic --- Same thing with NYC Teachers as well. One time I was riding the Long Island Rail Road during the evening rush hour, surrounded by teachers deep in conversation and asleep/drunk off duty cops. I remember turning up my headphones to tune out the racist and insensitive conversation they were having out loud about their students. I don't remember exact words, but I do remember a joke or two that they certainly would not repeat in front of the parents.

These were the people that played a vital role in my education and protection as a child. Awesome.

This.

This is how every dickbag cop stereotypically acts. Based in West Babylon? hmmmm, nothing surprising there.

What it comes down to is that the boys in blue are the biggest gang in NYC. I understand that Guilliani needed to form a thug squad to beat the other worst gangs of the time. That being said the NYPD constantly turns on the people it swears to protect.

blame it on diversity and being politically correct...
if you brought back the irish/german/italian/american cops that used to beat people with their nightsticks, we wouldn't have half the problems we have today.
same is true for firemen and teachers.
today everyone is a winner no matter how big a loser they are...

One of the very reasons they need to require residency for city jobs.
When cops, teachers and firefighters lived in the city you didn't have the divisiveness and hatred present today because they lived in the city and had their fingers on the pulse of the city and had a better understanding of the city's residents.
Now you have a bunch of wannabes in uniform from outside the city with racist hatred attitudes mainly because they were raised in insular and secular communities where everyone thought they were superior by shouting racist and bigoted rants and assertions of a false superiority that does not exist.
Life at the bottom of the intellectual pool is upsetting and contradicts all the vile and racist rhetoric they were raised around.

They need to live in the city to get a better understanding of the neighborhoods they work in.
We didn't have none of the crap growing up in the city I see now because cops interacted with residents where they patrolled and there was a mutual respect between civilians and the police and co-operation among the residents with police when a crime took place.
Things in some areas have changed for the worst.
