My Uncle Ed passed away on October 12th this year . I am his niece Catherine. I just completed cleaning out his home and am now going through his computer. It seems Uncle Ed spent alot of his time debating with some of you people on this blog. I am glad he had others to pass the time with before his passing. It appears to me that after reading some of his entries he was as passionate with you folks as he was with his family. However we after way to many heated conversations regarding political subjects we banned such topics at all family gatherings.Uncle Ed found this blog to fulfill his need to voice his opinions and I would like to thank you all for being there for him. I loved him and will miss him I hope you all do as well .
Thanks to all of you

Ed was a solid Democrat and defended his opinions with pretty good facts. The rightwing whackos and nuts were attacted to him like Bees to honey. He could wind them up and start them ranting and raving like few others.

He had a good memory of what happened in the past that caused much of the mess we are in today. Thus he could get under the hide of the Obama haters that seem to post here a lot.

I for one will miss his postings and have questioned what happened to him.

I didn't agree with his views at all, but I'm happy to hear he had family who loved him. My condolences to your family.

I recognized in Ed simple, but fierce, passions. I invited him to come with me to the first Riverhead Tea Party, where he would be welcomed as a fellow Viet vet, but he declined because of a conflict.

I had always hoped to meet him. I feared something was wrong.

Rest in peace, Ed.

My "Potential For Epic Thread-ometer" just turned itself on, went nuts for about a solid minute before it couldn't take it anymore and finally exploded in a blizzard of sparks and smoke.

I argued with Ed constantly.

Ed was passionate. He was often funny, and I admired Ed's love of the country as well as his service to America.

I miss Ed and wish him God-speed.

Uncle Ed must have been a blast at the family Thanksgiving gatherings, especially after a few cocktails.

In any case, it's sad to see an old foe go west. Via con dios, Ed.

In honor of one of topics most unique contributors. A person who was never at a loss for words. One who passionately stood by his opinions, no matter what facts were presented. Ed, I hope your passing was peaceful and painless, and as a final token of my respect, I will give you this.

The last post I remember was one where Ed complained about the unsanitary (disgusting) practices at a local McDonald's near his house.

I regret that I will never see Ed tearing into the burger flippers at a local McD.

EXACTLY!, Ed.
