South Dakota tea party ad likens 'Obamacare' to communism
MITCHELL | A South Dakota tea party group has sponsored a television ad comparing the president's health care law to Soviet-era communism.

The Daily Republic in Mitchell reported Thursday ( http://bit.ly/1igYD6d ) that the ad is sponsored by Tea Party SD, headed by Allen Unruh, of Sioux Falls.

It shows a newscaster speaking with a Russian accent who says he is a "spokesman for Obamacare." Over his right shoulder is a photo of President Barack Obama. Over his left is a photo of Russian communist revolutionary Vladimir Lenin.

"Greetings, comrades," he begins. "I have special message for those of you who are paying for your own medical care, just as you are paying for your own food, housing, your own clothing and automobile, entertainment and so on. This is no longer acceptable. You must become part of collective."

Jon Schaff, political science professor at Northern State University in Aberdeen, calls the ad so over-the-top that it's destined for the satirical political cable-TV show "The Colbert Report."

"For a lot of viewers, it would be hard to tell if this is serious or a parody," he said. "Count down until this is on 'Colbert.'"

Unruh said it's a good ad.

"I think it explains what's going on with what's happened to health care today," said Unruh, a chiropractor.

The ad has been airing since at least Sunday on the Sioux Falls-based TV stations KCPO and FOX affiliate KTTW. It was not initially posted on online but did show up on YouTube as The Daily Republic conducted interviews.

Unruh said Tea Party SD is an "educational nonprofit" but said it is not a 501(c)4, the typical nonprofit federal status for groups doing political activity. He declined to specify what legal framework the group exists under.

The South Dakota Secretary of State's Office did not have a record of the group as either a political group or an "organization" under the state's business records.

How much are you willing to bet the Koch brothers were behind this?

The Republican Party once supported intelligent life. According to preliminary research, the once great GOP supported intelligent creatures capable of compromise, maturity and foresight.
These beings created a great civilization with fantastic achievements in civil rights, social welfare, science, the arts and technology. Unfortunately this enlightened species called Republicans seems to have died out slowly over the past few decades, and more primitive life forms called Tea Party Republican have taken their place.
We are unable to determine the cause of this extinction at this time other than a half black man got elected President of the USA. Things that these same people supported just a few years ago that created the debt they now place blame on someone else and demand that he paid the bills they created.

That's today's Republican party, screw up then blame someone else.
The recent government shut down is a perfect example.
Yes, they do have a problem with the president because of his racial make up, they won't admit it publicly, but you can only imagine what they say to one another behind closed doors.

ILAL aka "Harriman Nelson" Topix DNA is very easy to spot..."Yes, they do have a problem with the president because of his racial make up, they won't admit it publicly, but you can only imagine what they say to one another behind closed doors." Actually a lot of the blame falls on John McCain who presented Palin to the nuts of the Republican Party as their voice.

Then one could also blame Obama for being a well educated intelligent half black man who ran for President and was elected by the citizens of the USA. The ignorant, the poorly educated, the southern bigots and the religious right could not stand to see a half black man elected President.

Then some of the blame rests in the Republican party who has been playing those idiots for votes over single issues like abortion, anti-gay, creationism etc since Reagan. They created a monster that now has taken over what was once a reasonable political party.

When McCain selected Palin as his VP choice, he created a Bride of Frankenstein experiment that went wrong.
The Republican party has now become a party of bigots, extremists, liars and ingrates; a cross contamination of America.
You're absolutely right, the GOP has played those types for fools, the same fools who vote against their own best interests because of their hatred for the president.
For that crowd, Obama doesn't fit their image of what a president of the USA is supposed to look like.
Because of the extremism and bigotry that has invaded and taken over the Republican party, they're now viewed as a bunch of backwards fools.

Come on, any intelligent person knows that Crazy Horse is not for sale.

Mt. Rushmore might be after they put President Obama just to the right of President Washington.
