Agreed on that. I have friends in Oklahoma that got out just before it hit, but I am waiting to hear if their home is still standing. The weather in the states has been insane lately, non?
We need to thank God for giving us the knowledge to have Doppler Radar or more would have perished.

They said on the news that May is the time for tornados there.
I lived for a while near Tulsa and then in Norman.

The little town near Tulsa . Well..the first night I heard the sirens. I rush to the basement with a suitcase full of papers I was only 18

Little lady there ran a ballet school for kids. She was up sewing. No one else in building went to shelter.
2 days later it's pitch black outside. Sirens going off

People at lunch counter watching news on little tv. Was a hurricane brewing in Fla. They all say to me ..nice folks. Is your family affected?
I'm like shaking. Said attentively worried about tornado siren they said oh we never get them here we are in a valley or something like that.
It was way weird.
I get crazy about hurricanes. Worry . Last one that hit us Wilma was worst ever.

But those poor folks had almost NO warning.
And those children huddling in the hall like that. I shudder.

They are in my prayers

Good. I beg pardon if I misunderstood. I'm still reading back on this massive thread and I doubt I can catch up completely. I've noticed some people just don't want to accept non-christian beliefs, though you seem more tolerant of them than others.
Yeah was my bad got into discussion with another poster. Wanted to quit and should have. It's me that was inadequate to explain The God I love..obviously I did so badly.

He has explained himself.
But I really never meant to be offensive.
I disagree with lots on here but I respect and like most of the other posters:)

I know what the Catechism says, Moron.

I also know what YOU portray, and it's nowhere near the same.

Maybe YOU should go back and read it, Bigot.

You can believe that if you want. Doesn't make it true.

YOU, however, portray a God that is a petty little abusive tyrant, which has nothing to do with what Christ is supposed to have done, Bigot.

I grew up in Louisiana, and there aren't any basements here because it's below sea level in most places. Instead, people might build safe holes or even jump into bathtubs and pull mattresses overhead in the event of a tornado.
Katrina was a nightmare. Bodies floating in the streets, rapes in the shelters, rescuers shouting for women to take off their tops in exchange for a seat on a chopper or boat.
Disasters really bring out both the best and the worst in humanity. I just hope these latest ones bring out more of the former than the latter.
Katrina broke my heart. New Orleans is one of my favorite cities in the world. I grew up in Gretna.

Was very glad, however, that I was not fated to be a resident when that storm hit - the way it was handled, both locally and Federally, was utterly criminal.

I fell in love last year with an HBO series called 'Treme'. It was already two seasons in when I started watching, and this year will be the fourth, and last, season of the show. Do you watch it?

I live in Tulsa now, and the storms left Tulsans will well-soaked earth. That's about it. Where I am, we didn't even get high winds or hail. But Moore is going to need lots of time, effort, money, and compassion, for years after this. The destruction and loss of life was crippling.

Friend of ours runs a roofing company - he and his crews have been there since 3pm yesterday, and will be repairing roof damage to what homes were left standing, for the next several weeks. If I know John, he'll be doing a lot of it pro bono. He's that kind of guy.

No basement here either. We pickup shutters and pray. Wilma ..we were in the outer eye wall like forever. no power.for almost 2 weeks. But we didn't get the body count like with Katrina.
One thing I will say in places where they told people to evacuate like the beaches..They had busses to move those with no car.

With Katrina mayor and gov just said evacuate and those people who could went to the dome..all those busses they could have used to get people out BEFOREHAND. Mayor didn't even think of it. They had days to get people out. But no one could forsee the levy problem..well not in
The short term any way the way it happened.
And the feds can't come in til invited by governor governorship waited.. But they can only stage outside the hit zone. Or else they are of no use if their trucks wash away. Same here they are close as can be. But no trailers til after. But we do get time to prepare..extra water (thank God for there was no clean here for days) extra, food .generators but no gas to run them .no one though to out generators on the gas pumps. DUH.
THEY had tons of gas at the port but no way to get it out and no way to pump it..
We have overhead electric lines. Power. Company says they are trimmingvtrees but they don't.

Oh well. Anyway hope your friends, are ok.

It really showed you what a sinful human being /beings are capable of under the right cinditiins doesn't it?

I believe there is only one way to Heaven, but also fully believe others can believe however they wish.

I don't believe many different religions all go to the sane Heave..

Anything I can talk someone into, anither person can talk them out of, and if I had power to force others to do what I say, it would be worthless.

God only accepts those who freely accept Him.
They love their Sin, and don't want anything to do with a God who may judge anything the do

Everyone does what is right in their own eyes.
Problem -child porn is ok in some folks eyes, and so is calling out to desperate women to pull off their tops to get a rescue seat.

May God help all those effected by the storms. It makea me very thankful me and my family are safe.

I couldn't watch it, honestly. I appreciate what they were trying to do, but ultimately, the networks wanted to capitalize on the suffering of the New Orleans residents. That's what it came down to, honestly..
I can certainly understand your feelings here. Seems no real motive exists at the corporate level other than the fricken bottom line. It is, however, an excellent show, with a heavy concentration on the music and soul of N'awlins...and much of the producers' proceeds did go to aiding the homeless musicians there. I believe one or two of the writers live in the city still, and have family in the area, so were able to help in the best way they had....intimate observation and chronicling.

My sister runs a shelter. She's had great luck with the thundervests, but they don't work on every dog.

The more intensive heartworm treatment has worked for all but one of her dogs, whose heart was too far gone. If yours is healthy otherwise, then you have a good chance of success.

She is big enough I can give her beastly if I know a biggie is coming. Thought we were done for today. Just had a real big crack almost right over head. She's gone in her house. Thought about one of those jacket things. Have to look into that. Anyone try them
Will get chamomile but she only seems to drink once a day..Oh well.
Beastly is good for long trips too. And doesn't make her dopey. We walk her at all the stops.
Poor dog. She was a rescue. New in so they had to spay her. She stayed out and had a few problems waking up. Then they get tests back she has heart worms. Vet there says we can't get her.
So hubby And I are really upset. He is on crutches and evidenced GO get another one..we walk in one of the volunteers recognizes me because head volunteer brought me there in the first place.
Lol she says..did you come to pick up Keepers. I say well yes so did..how is she better???
She says oh she's doing great. Sooooo I get hubby ..we sign papers. Pay fee before vet can stop us. Think she was off.
We took her to our vet said no real heart problems he can see ..
So we get humane vet ..She really was nice to try experimental heart treatment. Could kill her but better than heart worm or just putting her down. Like they were going to do!!! In the end it worked No heart worms for past 8 years. And spoiled really rotten by dad. Of house I'm the one gives her meds. Etc do the hard stuff. What else is new
Lol

Interesting. I did notice some grammar issues with Rosesez' posts, but I'm hardly one to criticize. It isn't my business to police the activities of forum members, however. If Ladilullu wants to post 24-7, let her. How does it hurt you? Some of you seem to take this forum far too personal.
Rosesz does a lot of posting from a mischievous device she refers to as 'Madam Kindle'...resulting in oft-misspelled and confusing text. Not her failing, as she is a highly intelligent person, but that of the device, which is geared to reading rather than writing, and hence has some very interesting auto-correct offerings. The vast majority of us are able to look past MK's foibles, and attend to the intentions of its user. Some of us, however, are petty assholes, who prefer disparagement to debate, and find a source of 'pleasure'(?) in niggling at Rose, who does not deserve it...
Takes all kinds to make a world.

:)

This one to whom you've replied here, however, is a mole rat (probably the naked variety)

http://www.arkive.org/naked-mole-rat/heteroce...
which unfortunately has burrowed its way on to this forum - ostensibly for the purpose of chucking its fecal matter and old nesting material out of its hole.

Ladilulu has found much better ways to occupy her time, and has not posted on Topix for months.
