First nice piece of plagiarizing I did report it. Whether topix does anything will be up to them..
However, if it is as an allegory that you justify reading some very fine literature have at it. The reality is It is not.
http://www.ewtn.com/library/HUMANITY/JRRTOLK....
"Tolkien generally spurned allegory as an art form—he even professed to hating it—so it seems unlikely that his works were intentionally and fundamentally allegorical.
Indeed, in his Foreword to The Lord of the Rings instead of allegory he said
"I much prefer history, true or feigned, with its varied applicability to the thought and experience of readers. I think that may confuse "applicability" with "allegory"; but the one resides in the freedom of the reader and the other in the purposed domination of the author."
In his letters he is less emphatic, admitting that,
"…any attempt to explain the purport of myth or fairytale must use allegorical language." (And, of course, the more "life" a story has the more readily will it be susceptible of allegorical interpretations: while the better a deliberate allegory is made the more nearly will it be acceptable just as a story.)."
If we were simply to read The Lord of the Rings as an allegory we would be missing its point. Just as Jesus used parables to take us to a deeper truth, so Tolkien weaves his stories to take us ever deeper. It is like peeling off the snake’s skin as stories are revealed within his stories: each one challenging us, sensitising us, inviting us. And what is it he wants us to discover?"
You missedtheshowon EWTN explaining how Tolkien was a devout Catholic and how his faith intertwined in his stories.# Gandalf, the steward of all things good in the world, reflects the papacy. Gandalf is leader of the free and faithful. He is steward of all things good in the world, but he claims rule over no land. As the Popes of history di with kings and emperors of our world, so Gandalf crowns the king and blesses him to rule with justice and peace. SOURCE Catholicedu.com

Was there pedophilia in the story? I don't remember Gandalf being a corrupt pedophile denier/apologist so he can't reflect the actual papacy.

I made a very accurate and concise statement: Blacks were considered 3/5 persons.
It is you who wants to mimize this fact. Either you are racist, or you like to make excuses for unjust situations.
No, you made an incomplete statement. The full statement would be that the slaves were considered 3/5ths of a person in the census, for the purpose of taxation and representation in gov't.

YOU want to pretend the truth of that is something else entirely in order to further your agenda.

You're failing.

__________

How does the "purpose" for considering blacks 3/5 persons mitigate that they were considered 3/5 persons.

What other legal purposes of considering blacks 3/5 persons make it offensive?

You & Johnny excuse designating blacks 3/5 persons because it was 'only' for purposes of the census.

I find that offensive.

You don't.

I don't find it a "waste of time" to demonstrate in real-time what deceitful, lying scum you proaborts are.

When you lose credibility, your opinion is meaningless.

Hope that helps.

<quoted text> Are you taking lessons on how to be stupid from Petey? Yes you are! Tolkien was a devout Catholic and it shows in his writings.
yes he was a devout catholic, but he even stated his stories are not allegories.. DERR!!

Look, knutter, by your logic any one that writes a story that religious devout and the book hits the big. It must be allegory.

By your logic Anne Rices vampire series is an allegory as she is a devout catholic. McCaffery was a devout catholic. So her Pern stories must be allegories..

The one thing all three writers have in common. All have stated their stories are just a good yarn, an a adventure yarn. Escapist fiction. Not meant to be any deeper than that.

Tolkien even wrote in his foreword that his stories were not an allegory.. How much more plain does that have to be for you to get it.

You are reading a book of fantasy. Nothing more. Nothing less.

And like an fool you blew past the part where the man spurned the idea that his stories are an allegory.. Your own church website shows exactly what the man was saying at the time. Everything after that is nothing more than justifying your wanting to read a great piece of literature that is fantasy.

The only ones that are meaningless on these forums are you bigoted fool that cal themselves prolife.

You are meaningless in to a woman making a decision concerning her pregnancy.

Meaningless to any one with any common sense.

As for credibility. Your first posts were all it took to tag many you fools as not having any. if not to long after that to really understand what true creeps you were to every one.

Really? How many precious lives were murdered today while you and other self proclaimed pro life advocates post on an abortion forum discussing a subject from 2 years ago that has nothing to do with reproduction or Roe vs. Wade?

Speaking of deceitful, credibility, and subjects off topic do you believe that Lil Lily always tells the truth?
When you lose credibility, your opinion is meaningless.
Hope that helps with your answer, a simple yes or no will do.

Because it had nothing to do with whether or not individuals were people. It was only for a census. A fact that YOU keep ignoring.

No, Liar, the decision did so. Johnny and I are only educating you about history, since apparently the school you attended failed to do so.

Racist? What, by correcting you on your incorrect reading of history? LOL, nonsense. Not only a liar, but a Drama Queen as well. I'm not surprised.

If you actually looked at the context, you'd see Bitner was using "human" as a noun. Ergo, it IS interchangeable w/ human being.
You tried to use a "context" argument, when the context was right in front of you poking you between your closely-set, beady eyes.
^^^ Bonefide Bonehead ^^^
Wrong again son. Bit was talking about a "human fetus", FETUS being the noun you dolt.
