It comes down to the diagnosis, now what do you think is going on in the mental health system....?they treat with pills though frown on providing the diagnosis needed and proper treatment specific to their diagnosis..hence the aurora shooting....
For purposes of preventing the next mass murder, all that's necessary is that the dangerously disturbed pt is reported by the mental health provider that sees them to Law Enforcement immediately, so they can be put in the National Disqualified from Having Firearms database.

Period.

Beyond that, I don't care & it doesn't matter then whether or not they are ever formally diagnosed with a DSM code, or how they are treated, or if they are even treated at all, or who pays the bill.

Failure to report a dangerous mental case shall make the mental health provider who failed to report them criminally liable, whether whether or not they are ever formally diagnosed with a DSM code, or how they are treated, or if they are even treated at all, or who pays the bill. None of that foo-foo shall be a defense. Doc goes to jail &/or loses their license to practice &/or or pays a hefty fine - or all 3.

Real simple.

I agree Teddy R,,that would put the physician in line to protect the best interest of the pt and society...and not the insurance carrier....
..they need to have accountability for their actions, inactions and after jailing a couple of them, they'll be more aware of their responsibilities....

I would think, our federal government would want ,every veteran who is diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder to be added to a list and disarmed.......

The globalist elite want your guns. They are repeating history like every other time before. Take the guns, wreck the economy, enslave and kill the masses. The play book is as old as time itself.
But the second amendment was written to just protect the right of folks to hunt, according to the left, and not enough folks do that anymore for them and their rights to matter. After all, the founding fathers and the author of the constitution and bill of rights established a "living" document that liberals can change to reflect the times. Times like today where they are destroying our rights and enslaving us to a system that protects chosen groups over the individual, and emphasizes change to what has worked for the last 200+ years.

While they DSM -vV is removing Aspergers syndrom autism from the psychiatric Manuel....and a great savings to our insurance carriers that no longer will be required to provide treatment based mental health care....
The insurance carriers are laughing all the way to the bank.....while a list is contemplated to solve the problems ....How did this kid with aspergers involved in the Sandy Hook shooting get his guns...If mommy 's not on the list ,what's to prevent this from happening again?

Arming teachers and or administrators in every school. It is obvious they are vulnerable, and a target to the sick minded.

This idea reminds me of the empire state shooting, where nine pedestrians where shot by police......a couple of decades ago we had "sick minded" people locked up in psychiatric centers?...a money losing investment for the insurance carriers....Our streets seemed a lot more safe...
