Do you think part of the problem is there are no colleges here for kids to aspire to play for? Other states all have colleges that kids want to play for from birth.

I would have football eliminated on long island or a ability driven leagues best play the best.play 2 non-league games one inter-county and one out of state.have a true county champ and one true long island champ.

States that have Spring Football have a ton of limitations on what they can do during the summer. Ohio and Texas have restrictions that may surprise you during the summer.
In NJ, you can do whatever you would like (in any sport) from June 10th thru August 10th - unless your conference or Board of Education limits you. This includes wearing pads. Full practices. It is a recess period. It is completely out of control.
No spring ball in NJ. There is no need to have any.

Long Island Kids are severely limited. Nobody is starting June 10th!

What can they legally do between in June and July beyond 7 on 7 and lift/run?
It is a grind in NJ - pretty much too much. Most schools get without any equipment all summer until August 11th (1st day of practice)- but they are on the field the entire summer for 3 to 5 days a week doing drills as well as installing all phases of the game.

I say start from day one of training 7th, 8th 10 years old, teach them good fundamentals of football. Not all kids may make it, but you need to start to get the boys tough and ready to play ball. Culture has to change. I love watching football and would be sadden not having it on the Island.

Great idea. Start the training when they are in 2nd or 3rd grade. Who will do the teaching of the fundamentals? The game was not created for the fan. The culture that has to change is the helicopter parent concept. Get rid of daddy ball.

leave the game to the coconut heads they want it, they are good at it,and it will cool down there need to commit crimes.the white mommies can breathe easier their little Myron's won't be beaten up.but tell Myron to study hard because he will be the black guys boss and that is the way it is.give the black people a chance to excel and sports is their forum.

Daddy ball has ruined youth football on long island , fathers who go online and play Madden think they can coach. The days of fundamental football is gone because there son and wife's friends children have to be the star. Best coach is the one with no kid on the team. Team and fundamentals first the winning will follow.........
