Just heard with the rain delay the game is official if called, Aceves gets a 5 inn win.

Not sure if tomorrow they swap to a DH should it continue.

13K shutout for Harvey outstanding but hands LaTroy loaded bases with no outs so the shutout may not hold...

Remember also that insurance for the player doesn't give the team a 'freebie'. That salary is still counted on Lux Tax so 40% is payable to the league, I doubt insurance pays full value of the contract irregardless.

Cano moved? Well not much value in that. No team is gonna give up much unless Cano can be locked in, and no way is he gonna sign before the open market unless he gets a top top price. Who's gonna pay that? Sox LAD are probably out...and Cano hasn't showed he can step into the seat and drive a team...
Aware no change as far as the luxury tax number goes. Agree insurance carriers wouldn't pay out during a suspension. Don't see Buddy Boy Selig agreeing to a retroactive suspension...

As for Cano, don't think any team would trade high valued assets if they couldn't sign him. Think teams like CHC & SEA will inquire when FA starts. Both desperate for offensive help plus they have lots of space under the luxury tax to sign him...

Cano is going for the money if NYY doesn't meet his price...

SEA doesn't have the best of luck with long terms I can't see them going for Cano.

Think the Cubs will be focused on starters which is where they should be and middle IF has never been a problem for them to fill.

Is Miami a player? He might lock in a no trade deal which the Marlin toss the fans as a plum....

Cano's value is 40m more to the Yankees than any other club, they have no prospects to fill in all the gaps long term...

Cano isn't going anywhere. Granderson however will be...but the Yanks have about 40 days to get to a selling point...and he might not be healthy or have proven he is by then....

Look at the brightside: Overbay at least won't be playing RF.

Stupid of the Yanks to push Teixi...if they blew out that wrist...oh baby....

Nice win by the Mets.

Sox can't play the second DH game if the first isn't finished by league rules.

So drinks for the Umps are on the grounds crew and lets get to the Buch presser already

not too smart to say this Kevin Long..shoulda told cash....

loved cash and his remark about kevin long being a monk...

a hitting coach on a team that is not hitting..and now this...

yanks did rush him, one thing was to let him have a spring training type of comeback, playing at least for 2 more weeks hitting, then they could have seen if he had a setback and they were not paying his salary also...the wbc was...and now wont.

I thought they rushing him and posted so.

Now its his timetable ala Crawford... this is where the knives come out. Intersting Joel Sherman link on 2012 Sox and the Yankees.

>>Consider the Red Sox were 36-33 last year through 69 games, not far off the Yankees’ current 38-31<<<

http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/yankees/decayi...

Sox delay...on a DH day...suits the SOx to put one off while Buch is up in the air and theyre throwing 2 guys just up....

Can't say which way Buchholtz goes, its not a bad injury but 2 missed turns and its a numbers game really...
Don't see where Teixeira was "rushed." Sometimes, it's the player that wants to come back sooner than they should. NYY has been cautious, sometimes to a fault, when it comes to player injuries...

He was rushed. They set the number of ABs they determined he should have then halved them then pretty much took half that off again.

Was widely rumored he wasn't going LH'd. Long confirmed this without being critical of the system.

SEA needs to bring fans to Safeco. Believe they made a commitment to Felix to upgrade the offensive talent. Cano can be the start of that upgrade. The reason the long term deals for Beltre & Sexson didn't work out was in part due to Safeco being a pitcher friendly park until they moved in the fences this season...

CHC has Darwin Barney @ 2B, hitting all of .214 to date. Theo needs to make a splash because that system hasn't produced much in the was of offense over he last 5+ seasons...

Don't see any takers for Granderson unless Hal kicks in most of the remaining salary. Cano will get his money from somewhere...

Coming off the injury only 3 games in the minors? I could see 6-10 games at least for timing and making sure he had no issues.

Said it before and here it is again Youk will be great off the bench for CIN or SF

Big mistake signing for the Yanks, Cashman thought he could pick and choose Youks perenial DL visits...

Love to see him retire as a Red Sox player as he's always been a favorite.

Here's aCano stat which may determine some value down the road:

Cano vs, left-handed pitchers:
.218/.283/.366 (71 wRC+) this year,
.239/.309/.377 (78 wRC+) last year,
.314/.354/.525 (134 wRC+) in 2011, a
.300/.343/.475 (116 wRC+) from 2005-2011.

thats a decline not a hiccup, if he ups the power at the peril of average you'll know its running true...

Theo needs SP next season much more than he needs to upgrade Barney.

SEA doesn't like long term money deals wherever the fence is.

Granderson if healthy is a HR machine to a contender, he won't return much unless the team trading for him eats the Yankee portion of his salary which isn't much for a month or three...

Gardner 8
Nix 6
Cano 4
Wells 7
Neal DH
Suzuki 9
Adams 5
Overbay 3
Stewart 2

Hughes 1

clean up hitter Vernon Wells protected by T-Daddy.

Why is Romine not playing? He'd really be the cherry on top of this lineup.

TWO-Fers at Fenway:

Doubleheader expected to resume. Game 2 to start approx. 35-45 minutes after Game 1. Fans holding tix for Game 1 are invited to Game 2 FREE.

Hmmmm...think this bodes well for a Buch return...
